I'm currently growing in a high flow heath robinson inspired dwc/drip system. My plants had vegged for 30 days and were huge, beautiful, and healthy huge white rootmass I was stoked,

For my veg system I used pvc for all the return lines, but in my Flower room I decided to try this

Blue flexible hot tub tubing for more plant placement flexibility its cool stuff both extends and bends and it's black so light proof perfect... killed em dead in 48hrs:yoinks:. Back to the drawing board ...shit. Bought it at ace hardware 1 1/4 fit perfectly over my ebb and flow fittings no leaks with a clamp. Don't use it! Makes me wonder about getting in the hot tub.

You sure the blue tubing killed your plants? any pics of the symptoms? I've used it to direct humidity to my shroom grow way-back-when and my mycelium tubs flourished. Not saying fungi and plants will respond the same way to VOCs.. but proof would be nice

Hate ta see any sudden crop failure Bro........It was told yrs ago bout "pvc" degrading and leaching into feed/drain lines as well from over exposure to artificial light , so it could be compounded with that other tubing......not sure.......

CPVC tubing and fittings are what`s supposed ta be used in DIY fast hydro setups , although I see those new undercurrent setups using what looks like "PVC".....maybe shit`s made different these days , cuz way back at OG folks crops were droppin like flies from using it in megawattage rooms........

Hope yas get things figured out......

Take care and good luck.....DHF...

Symptoms were... lets see...dead plants! not kinda wilted not yellowed no symptoms at all just plain wilted and dead. Moved em to bloom came back 48hrs later and that was it. PH and EC were identical to grow so was nutrient solution ionic grow at 1.2 ec pH 5.5 The water had a very strong amine/ solvent smell not like vinyl chloride, roots looked bleached white and limp. The flex line was the only difference from grow to bloom same system. I don't know about your shrooms bro but cannabis does not like this shit.. perhaps it was just a poorly manufactured lot reaction to ionic nutes or stronger light or whatever IDK.

DHF ,

Thanks man, ya I was worried about the pvc when I started building this system but it seems to work great at least under 400w halides. I'ts Too bad about the girls they were doing really well I'm definitly hooked on the HR systems...but it actually is OK it was just an experiment. It helps that there are 50 moms in the warehouse and 120 rooted clones in the aerocloner to choose from so I'm good. Where does one procure cpvc in large sizes, I need 2" at least. I'm developing a system to run half of one of one of our warehouse in 4 bucket "pods" of trees in HR style systems under vert 600's. Well back to the hardware stores...HM

HOM......Heathie get`s different shit ta work with in the UK/Euro market than what`s available here in the states , but I helped a Bro in the Czech Republic run a dialed setup mimicing my DIY Ebb and Flow 5 gal buckets using "flex cpvc" for drainline and he killed it with 12 lbs outta 4-1KW`s with maxed out buckets......

Here`s the thing Bro.......most of Heathie`s shit`s been deleted/lost except at "Invite only" sites........but.......

What`s been shown hasn`t touched on his environmental conditions that he makes all these things happen in....

Heathie uses no A/C , no Dehuey , but major air exchange/extraction of each room twice per minute while also not using CO2 as well due to his dialed conditions....but....

He grows in cellars as he call`s em , compared to me having grown in "basements" here in Hell and having to employ every bell and whistle it took to control Relative Humidity and Ambient Temps for dialed conditions where I`m at geographically trying to get as close to his results as possible over the yrs.....

The biggest thing about fast hydro is learning how long it takes to fill the bottom container with roots by end of stretch without clogging flow during feed and drain.........

As long as you can keep drain lines free from clogs once hormone changes occur and roots are only for suckin juice and swellage , then you should be okies till harvey/end of cycle once all is dialed environmentally.......

Heath`s shit`s simple......Don`t complicate it like Doubled`s did with HIS version of what Heath taught him at HG yrs and yrs ago , and then callin g it "MPB`s".......Shoulda named it "Heath`s" MPB`s , but then how would he get supposedly paid for using someone else`s instructions without changin simple shit up and creating all sorts of nooks and crannie`with "fancy fittings like "quick-disconnect" fittings tryin ta change shit up but keep it "high flow as he was taught" , when actually only adding places for root born pathogens to develop that caused many folk`s crop death chasing after his "so-called" 4 lb plants.....

Heath`s dialed "high flow" Aquafarm setups were killer for big plants back in the day using 2 1/2 gal containers....I mean Huge....with lil bitty buckets compared to my 5 gal buckets.....

I see whole lotta folks tryin ta use bigger bottom containers for more roots to support bigger plants with extended veg times for all these slow veggin indica varieties when we usedta veg 2-3 weeks with krusty buckets and end up with 2 1/2 -3 lb plants using proper hybrids EVERY run......

Things that make yas go Hmmmmm.......

Peace.....DHF......:ying:.....

What about Medical Grade tubing, expensive, but so is your time, energy, and seeds. There's Food Grade, too, but even it might not be the top shelf:

(Food industry tubing-make sure to get Medical grade and not merely Food grade)

I have posted this so many times..

Only ever use uPVC, NEVER use PVC.

uPVC is the raw product, the small u means UNPLASTICISED.

To make uPVC more usable for different products, they take uPVC and process it further, adding in very nasty Plasticiser chemicals, making it PVC [no small "u" prefix]

For Hydro systems, stick to using the hard black plastic uPVC you see in the cheap irrigation lines. Zero excuses, no matter what you have "got away with" so far, it might not be enough to kill your plants in 1 day, but it may well be enough to kill you and anybody who smokes your weed, slowly.

Hydro solutions [Low pH] leach the toxic plasticisers out of the soft PVC, into the solution, you are safe in your hot tub, your plants are not safe with any PVC at all. None, zero.

If you want to build Hydro systems, you really should read this book, it is about NFT, but has a wealth of information on materials, essential reading.
