hey guys I need ur help on this 1,I got 6 seedlings from some bag weed I bought that i said i grow out 4 the hell of it,I started them out in wormcasting ,they r coming gr8t ,i also got them under a t5 on12?12 so i can sex them,this is the 3rd week an they are stating 2 give off a strong odor ,is this a sign that they r females,thanx 4 the help because im really used 2 growing clones

The seedlings themselves wont give off an odor. They will; however, emit the distinct odor when they flower, particularly late flowering. The odor isn't as strong as a female's based on my observation though.

All plants smell. Some more than others. Male or female, it makes no difference. Seedlings can smell as well. The only way to tell sex is wait for preflowers or take a cut and flower it.

I don't have the nose of a bloodhound, so I have never smelled any odor in seedlings, unless some trimming was done recently.

Seedlings most certainly do not emit an odor. At least my nose doesn't pick up a scent from them. Once they're like 2-3 weeks into flowering is when they start stanking

^^^ Yea seedling don't produce "weed" odor imo. And dont untill buds start forming. What your smelling is most likely the moisture, and soil in your grow area. also they might smell, but not of marijuana, just of a plant. Ever walk into a greenhouse? it smells like plants

Seedlings don't immediately smell. These people who say that there plants don't smell until flowering either run horrible genetics or they just can't smell for the life of them.
I guarantee if my veg room wasn't filtered I would be busted within a week.

I've had some smelly little seedlings. Male and female, altho at the time they were too young to be showing sex. You either haven't grown or sniffed enough to have encountered it yet. It's too cool when you realize you've got a "stinker" on your hands when they're that young!

bs, plants smell like plants. no way does a seedling emit a "marijuana" odor, they smell like plants

At 6" plants can emit cannabis odors. Vegging plants are definitely a security risk.
If you disagree, see a doctor about your nose or maybe look into getting better genetics.

thx guys but what some of u r missing is that i had these plant on 12/12 for 3weeks so that i could sex them and this last week the started giving off that odor u get when ,plants are starting 2 bud,thats the reason I asked if males give off smell but it seems like i got real lucky all of my plants r looking like females ,now ill veg them out 4 a couple o weeks then send back to flower

Seedlings usually don't have a smell. But plants can smell pretty strong, even before they bud. The plants I have going right now, smelled a week before I even put them into flower. Pretty skunky. Male or female doesn't make a difference on smell before budding starts. They smell the same. You have to wait for white hairs or little balls to know for sure.
