I had to close up shop for a few months. June of 2010 I heard my leasing company was having an appraiser come in. That was ok, I was near day 65 I think anyway so I just chopped and loaded up my car for the afternoon (jeez was it stinky, didn't drive it around obviously but you could smell it from a few feet away). Anyway, old balls appraiser came in, took a two second look at half the rooms in the house and left. Me thinks the upstairs people (chiropractor office) complained finally to my company about the stink and they sent someone in to see if it was obviously a huge op or whatever.
Moving on, I kept my mothers in a cardboard moving box with a double 2' t8 floro on top - totally low wattage and I was hoping for slow growth to take me through the next two months at that property before lease ended and I moved in to a new spot. Sadly in those two months that they sat neglected and often under-watered they got a case of SPIDER MITES. Such bullshit, and I didn't often have them out of their cardboard box so I didn't really noticed- figured the crappy appearance of my once lively gals was due to my neglect. Truth.
Anyway, I moved in to my new spot August 1st and planned to hit the ground running, take clones, yada. Found the mites, spent a month fighting them and trying to prevent some precious genetics from dying out 100% (was losing leaves rapidly, and didn't help my PH pen was out of whack and getting me to feed at 6.5+ instead of 5.8-9 in coco). Almost 3 whole freakin months later I've been flowering these recovered moms now for one week. They had seen their time, fair share of improper bonsai training attempts, infestation, etc. so I made new clones to keep as moms and threw em in to flower.
SETUP:
Same as before, I had temporarily downgraded to a DR80 but knew I'd roast my girls with a 600 in the middle. Traded buddy back (he ended up just buying me a new DR120- neat) and am very happy I did. Temps without AC peak at 80*, I flower at night - it's quickly becoming winter here and I'm going to use that free cold air for all I can.
(1) DR120 Tent
(1) Dual socket cool-tube, I think 3' tall
(1) Generic 600w HPS mag ballast and bulb
(1) Generic 250w MH mag ballast and bulb (only in veg)
(1) Stanley blower, 8000BTU AC (not needed, winter)
box fans, ghetto fans, fans here and there.
Canna coco with a ridiculous amt of perlite mixed in to combat the poor root growth I've experienced in most of my previous grows. Seems to have helped a lot. Handwater, 0-5% runoff (thanks dripclean voodoo). GH nutes per rezipe.
STRAINS: (I have one of each going)
ECSD I drove out here from VA - it resembles everyone elses original ecsd cut and I love her.
The La con mix up I got as a seed from a dispensary - robust plant, yields okay, smokes pretty well but may be phased out.
The plain Sour Diesel was gifted to me from a friend and is near identical to my ESCD in structure - very well may be another copy of the same clone since he was also gifted it. It's incredibly robust and outperforming my worn out ECSD. If they're practically the same deal come 75 days flower I'll keep the newer, more vigorous one.
Master Kush - drove out here as well, always gives me crap come about day 40 with extreme yellowing and production cuts off. Probably her last run.
Sour Grape - given to me as a seed, someone had a grape ape that was hit with some SD pollen at a local dispensary. Grows like a champ, showed female flowers after vegging as a 'mom' for so long but I don't know how she'll perform. Her trial run.
INTENT:
Obviously I'd like to have some personal again. I made a name for myself gifting countless people in this town small bags of primarily ECSD- which has pretty much earned me free drinks at any bar in town - for life. Therefore, I'd like to continue the gifting- I'm not big on selling anymore, even if I can do so legally to dispensaries.
I need to sort out the lesser desirable strains here. I have access to great cuts of herb I buy at dispensaries routinely- from the same dispensaries... I can't just grow diesel though. By about christmas time I'll be chopping down the 5 girls I have in flower and making my decision. It would be really nice to only have three strains total that I hold on to and possibly start doing just one strain in the big tent at a time, with a microgrow of another strain for my personal variety.
Onward for pictures - my intros are long, but now you know what I'm up to! Any questions - please ask!
