Having some problems with House and Garden A and B

I am on my second grow with H&G in coco and have followed the feeding schedule I downloaded from their web site with great success. The OP was feeding 1 teaspoon (5 ml) per gallon which is the recommended dose for the first week of veg. I am sure the problems the OP was having were due to underfeeding. Once veg is established you should be giving them between 7 and 8 ml per gallon. It doesn't sound like a lot but it makes a difference.

I followed the schedule all the way through flowering with the only exception being not using the Shooting Powder and the only nitrogen toxicity issues I saw from three strains I was growing was on the Nirvana Northern Lights. However, that plant was slow to mature and started flowering a week after the other plants in the grow so I may have ramped up the nutes a little quick for it. It also was the victim of a Blumat accident in which I dislodged the Blumat while foliar feeding in the dark and came back at lights on to find that the Blumat had dumped several gallons of nutrient solution into the poor plant. I saw some clawing at the top of the plant after that and it was a deep green all the way through flowering but the clawing never got worse after that. The other two strains I grew out were AK48 and White Castle and they stayed green throughout flowering and then faded to yellow at the end of flowering just like you would expect.

So the point of my rambling here is to follow the recommended dosages on the H&G feeding charts and your plants will love you. I don't know how necessary the supplements are but they sure didn't hurt. I do highly recommend using Drip Clean as I never had to flush during the whole grow. Top Booster also makes sense for a PK boost halfway through flowering but it is also expensive, especially considering that it only gets used for one week of the grow cycle.

The H&G feeding charts can be downloaded from this page: http://www.house-garden.us/feedcharts/

good info...I suppose those numbers are for RO water. The strains i am using were overfed with 6ml per gallon...however one of the strains seemed to like it...but it seemed to be too much nitrogen in flower

Yes that was with RO and I was flowering under 2 400's in a tent so I think I had pretty good growing conditions. I also think the strains I am growing are all known as heavy feeders. I guess the better message would have been to follow the feeding dosage pattern in the charts but always proceed with caution when dosages are increased.

In the OP's case he was growing under 2 600's and was seeing yellowing at 5 ml so I felt fairly comfortable saying that he was underfeeding. However as you pointed out requirements can vary by strain and I will add that the lighting and other environmental factors will affect a plant's ability to feed as well.

It has occurred to me that when I grow out some more sensitive sativa leaning plants using H&G that I might need to back off on the charts a little bit. I did slowly ramp up the feeding with these plants in the beginning but it soon became clear that they had no problem with H&G's normal feeding program so I just started trusting the charts and my ladies flourished.

Im mid flower right now at 8 mL/gal. They're about 5 ft right now and the tallest one is showing a tad bit of N def. I'm using KoolBloom Liquid for flower supplement, but I think I'll have to bump up the AB to 9 mL/gal and let that baby ride.

BTW I am getting fantastic results from the combination of KoolBloom Liquid, AB, and BudXL. Besides epsoms and Drip Clean you really don't need the other stuff.

Ugh on Top Booster and Shooting Powder. Totally not worth it in my opinion.

I went as high as 11 ml at 4-5 weeks of what turned out to be a 9 week cycle and then started backing off when I gave them the shot of Top Booster and finished the last few weeks at 7.5 ml.

I did have my doubts about how necessary Top Booster was but I was having good results and I had a weak moment at the hydro store when I was restocking on A&B. Since I have it I will keep using it but the plants were doing just fine without it. Shooting Powder messes up your coco so bad that you can't reuse it and that was enough reason for me to pass on it.

One other note about the Cocos A&B that hopefully can help others. I usually mix up 4 or 5 gallons at a time and I don't have an accurate measuring cup for anything over 10 ml at a time. I do however have an accurate scale (as I imagine many members of this board do) so I figured out the ml to g ratio for the A&B to make it easier to measure out odd numbers between 10 and 50 ml. The A ratio is 1 ml to 1.2 g and the B ratio is 1 to 1.15. So if you wanted to measure out 10 ml of each the A would weigh 12 grams and the B 11.5 grams.

i ended up using less of the "A" and a bit more of the "B"
I'm doing a side by side of House and Garden and " Maxi Bloom" for fun.
conditions are pretty much perfect...

Im running the H and G at the normal strength rounded up to the nearest 0 and its working amazing!!!! Of course you must have Drip Clean!!!! Its a miracle worker. I think theres a few thing H and G is lacking though, I use Sweet as a Carb, Mother of all Blooms (MOAB) as a pk, and cal mag and silica blast in veg. (im in 100% canna coco) Other than that H and G is the shit!!!! The tric, and resin production is unmatched, damn this shit works well!!!!!!! Gotta love Holland, there coming up with some amazing goodness
