A day in the garden

This won't literally be about a day in my garden... it will be a running thread with pictures of what I grow, techniques I employ (always trying something new), and high definition facial images of growers I know... ha! Not that, but this should be pretty fun for me! :) Even without exposing friends' faces publicly. Darn!

Although I have plenty of plants in flower, like SFV OGKush, Sour Diesel, Killer Queen, OGKush/Master Kush, Chem D, Super Silver Haze, etc... I'd like to start this off in the intended spirit of this thread. Not just the pretty flowers, but the reality of how we get to the big, greasy bud stage.

Here is my new(ish) grow tent. I've wanted to try one of these tents for a long time, finally got one. I love it! These plants were grown under just a 6 bulb t-5 light. I will be doubling the bulbs in there up to 12, soon. I like the growth pattern on these plants, so the light spectrum seems to be doing well... now we just need to double the lumens! :)

All these ladies are Chemdawg D clones, with the exception of the small lady in the middle, which is a Galadriel (C99xSour Diesel). Galadriel's Cinderella 99 genetics are apparent in this plant already because of how much slower she veges than the Chem D.

All of my plants are currently being fed (only) General Hydroponics 3-part, with the addition of General Hydroponics' Floraliscious Plus. The Floraliscious Plus has Humic acid and other organic goodies. Gen Hydro all by itself (in MY opinion) grows pot with a less-than-ideal smell/taste profile... It seems somewhat empty to me... again, just my opinion. The addition of Floraliscious Plus has been great! It has added back a lot of that rich, clean organic smell/taste I'm after.

All my girls are in straight, unadulterated coco coir. Fed at 1000ppm, 5.8-6.0 pH... Fed every day, unless the foliage is obviously able to take a day without feeding, in which case they do get a day of just water... occasionally. The Gen Hydro nutes are so well adjusted, the plants tend to eat it right up, meaning they need to be fed almost every day, at least a little. Feeding every day in coco means you run the risk of watering too often (water on top of water). So, air circulation needs to go up, and relative humidity needs to go down... until the plants start needing water every day. It's like artillery... you need to adjust your fire constantly to get it just right. :)

This should be fun folks! :tiphat:

Hey CC...is that Galadriel from seed? Or a selected pheno?
The pheno I'm leaning toward keeping is my slowest veg'r... but I have fast veg'n phenos as well.

Good Luck!

Marlo, it's from seed, sexed out, then cloned. This girl has never been flowered. At this rate of vegetation, we might get her flowering in about 3-4 years! :)

Rob, I've never flowered in one of these instant grow rooms... but they sure do veg nicely! Almost zero waste of lumens. :)

Clipity doo dah!

Clipity doo dah!

Clipity day!

I wanted to share this with all of you growers who have trouble keeping your plants upright, and resort to the pain in the ass technique of using metal ties and string.

I don't know what these things are called, but they are THE BEST TOOL for the purpose. Ask your local grow store to stock them, they should oblige.

They are what they look like they are... clips that secure stems to stakes. They can be worked with one hand, and they come apart very easily. They last forever!

(KISS) Keep It Simple, Stupid

Besides water, this is ALL I use to grow (right now).

The Hydrogen Peroxide goes in my reservoir every time I top the tank up... It helps to keep the slime out, and keep anaerobic bacteria to a minimum.

Some inglorious pictures of vegging Chemdawg D.

Notice the leaves with the variegation... this is (supposedly) TMV, or Tomato Mosaic Virus. Besides making the leaves look like this on some branches, there's not much of an ill effect.

hey crazy...ya...whatever that virus is it can be controlled...round here we just call it mosaic virus...seemed to get people all heated during the discussions...bro round here has a cut of chem d that showed no signs of it whatsoever..he said it had gotten progressively worse over time(as ive seen it do under CERTAIN circumstances)...he put a mom of it outside for about three months and fed it more cal mag than usual and he said it virtually disappeared...in my head i was thinking b.s...but after smoking it i realized it is the cut...then i got cuts...while waiting for a transplant i SERIOUSLY dried two of the cutting out..bad...really wilted...but they came back somehow...and guesss what was much more prevalent on those two particular clones then the other d's? yup the mv...so i dunno...sorry for the rant...thats it...:)

Not so inglorious ...you'll be doubling up the lumens with the t5's ...plants always seem to be more lush , green & relaxed when vegged under them , they really do . Friends Krome & Neptune always vegged under t5's & his mom & veg areas always looked beauitfully pristine . Didn't know u used GH 3part ? Shmoe always used Botanicare PBP which i thought remembering
him saying learned using that from you ? All the nutes are pretty nice now but GH nutes an easier
choice for me since we live just a few miles from their home base & get
amazing low prices here locally ....and they are KISS nutes :)

( get F-licious plus @ $140 gal !)

For a larger veg areas T5's just not as practical but makes me think to switching in some 1000watt Halides to get that better veg spectrum going ...plus now we have the switchable ballasts that are just the shnizz for controlled output.

be enjoying the ride CC , thanks for putting up the thread ...of course
u get the maple syrup cheaper back there for the famed CC
"maple syrup flush!" :biglaugh:

* its about $20 for 10ozs out here ...

PS : rented the Trailer Park boys , what a hoot , tx ! :)

Subrob, even the chem d cut I have will lose its splotches when fed strongly, and treated like a queen. I had been recently underfeeding these ladies, and they showed their dissatisfaction by splotching up. No big deal either way... it doesn't cause much in the way of problems.

Madrus, I get bored using just one style of growing and mix it up from time to time. I don't keep to any one fertilizer regimen for very long.

Trailer Park Boys remains my absolute favorite show ever! I just can't imagine a better way to spend my entertainment time. The comedy is brilliant, characters are brilliant, and it's all filmed in a way that makes it look like a home video. I laugh harder at TPB than anything else on screen. They're like the Beatles of canadian tv... a rare combination of talents creating magic together.
