DUde of course Hanna wants you to buy their stuff. My grow store ran out of the Hanna calibrating stuff so I just bought General Hydroponics 7.0 and 1500 PPM works just like all the others. Its just like all the nutrient calculators telling you to start off full strength and we know we always have to start off 1/4 or 1/2 strength to avoid nute burn. They just want you to use their products and keep buying them, just another marketing strategy.

I'm not sure about this...in this case.
Guess if someone here has the right knowledge to tell us the ''truth'' :bump:

Been using my Hana Grow for over a year. Works like a champ calibration is easy. Just dont leave the probe out to dry I have ruined a probe that way by not storing it in water when its turned off but other than that I just calibrate and clean it never had to use to storage solution. Feel free to buy all their stuff though .

Yeah the Digi constant read-out fancy PH meters are the Nuts, but man the probes are just silly money & most need replacing every year or two. I always buys PH Pens man, Usually AuqaPal pens, but this time i thought i'd give Hydrogardens Essentials PH Pen a go, cost me £28.95, its got auto temp adjust, auto one button push calibration, low batterey alarm(when you switch it on of course) & other features too, its an absolutely cracking little meter. I calibrated it once in 6 weeks & it had only lost 0.1(down to 6.9), you only need cal 7 solution to calibrate, i cant speak highly enough of this little Pen, oh & its mostly waterproof/floats if you have an accident, unlike the AquaPal, drop those in water & dont move fast enough to get the misses's hairdryer to dry the bit inside out & they are Fked. I was considering buying a constant readout digi tri-combo meter from Bluelab(NZH) but the replacement probes are £55 a pop & you need cal solution 4 & 7 to cal them too(& thats just for the PH cal). Fk that!!!, these little Pens rock if your not a lazy fker, (i am anyway), Highly recommend the Essentials PH Pen from hydrogarden.(i should get a free meter or 3 for plugging them & the pen like this but its the Nuts), im buying at least another 2 just incase they stop making them. The batteries seem to last for ever too, expected life of the pen is 1-3 years which is exellent for a PH pen!!!!(it does also say good for at least 365 tests in the instructions)

Best of Luck! ;)

The most cost effective accurate meter on the market, no question about it, 50p per battery(takes 4) & last months & only 1 bottle of cal 7 solution at £5, the meter £28.95, & this lasts me 2 grows at least if not 3, ok maybe a few batteries added in a year but you run the numbers, its a no-brainer!
