I'll second the recommendation for US tubes, the joints on those things are crazy thick. I've also got a toro, nothing fancy but it's very well made and wasn't too pricy...

Glass on glass is a must. Plastic bongs SMELL. LIKE. SHIT.
I bought a PHX last year and spent nearly $300...broke it the following week. Never again. Now I have a $60 glass on glass beaker, gets the job done and ill laugh if it breaks.
PS. I just recently started lifting the whole stem out to clear the tube, instead of just the bowl, now it clears super fast with no splash

check out sovereignty glass. their stemlines are godly, youtube has good demo vids sometimes of how a piece bubbles before you purchase it. that is if your into percs and diffys... which i so am. CIRC and showerhead FTW. Also anything gridded, you can assume if the blower is gridding the diffusers that theyve put alot of thought behind the functionality of the design.... SOV does just that..
I bought the 5mm thick Nice Guy version, with the 3-piece option to make it easy to mount a one-hit bowl:
Maybe a disc serves the same function as a seamine?--substitute for a screen in the bowl.
Instead of a sea mine or metal filter, I find a small irregularly shaped pebble outside, sterilize it and then use it as a filter. Works perfectly!

all this percolator bong business is pretty cool really, bongs have come along way now and the demand for high quality glass is on the rise. If you google what is a percolator bong you should find some good info pretty fast, but there basically just a way of breaking up the smoke and squeezing it through small gaps whilst looking fancy and cool!
