Hello!

I have problems with a few of my vegging plants:

At first I got the pale tops on all plants caused by day and night temperature fluctuations (night was 17-20, day was 30+), however that has been fixed a while ago and most plants recovered completely..

A few still seem to be struggling and on top of that they got some new problems too.

I read several times through The Complete guide to Sick Plants,pH, and Pest troubles to diagnose the problem, but I would like some opinions to confirm…

and then...

I filled in the form for soil grows:

How long has this problem been going on?
1 – 1.5 weeks

What STRAIN are you growing?
Sensi Seeds Jack Herrer; Serious Seeds Kali Mist; TFD O. Haze; some others

What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
Seed

What is the age of your plants?
2 months for the big plants.
2 – 3 weeks for the 2 small O. Haze seedlings

How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
1.5 months

Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not,
what mixture were they in before?
Yes, they are in BioBizz Light-Mix, with some added d. lime to bring the ph to 6.5.

How Tall are the plants?
Excluding the 2 seedlings and 1 Kali Mist all plants are LSTd.
The canopy top is 30cm above the pots…
If straightened the plants would be 30-40cm tall.

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
Vegetative

What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
5L pots with 1 plant per pot

What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
BioBizz Lightmix
With added powdered garden lime to bring the pH up to measure 6.5 at runoff.

What brand Nutrient's are you using?
For adult plants (not seedlings):
GH Flora Bloom
GH Flora Micro

Using the Lucas formula. Started at half strength (4ml Micro, 8ml Bloom per Gallon) and then eventually went full strength ( 8ml Micro, 16 Bloom per Gallon)

What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
6.5 - 6.7

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?
Liquid that changes color and then read off the color chart.

How often are you watering?
Lifting the pots, when they become light, I water. This usually happens every 2 days for big plants and less often for seedlings..

When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?
Not feeding the small seedlings yet.
The big ones I feed once a week..

What size bulb are you using?
600w Sunmaster MH

What is the distance to the canopy?
30-40cm with Super Sun 2 air cooled reflector

What is the canopy temperature?
24C - 29C

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range)
Day: 24C - 29C
Night: 20C – 23C
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.)
150m3/hour for Homebox L (1m x 1m x 2m)
Oscillating fan inside.

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ?
Good ventilation with fresh air intake. Running 24/7.
Oscillating fan inside also 24/7.

Is the fan blowing directly at plants?
Yes

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
No, I lift the pots to check when to water.

Is your water HARD or SOFT?
I asked around, tap water here has very low ppm, but pH of 8.0, so I use GH pH Down to adjust the pH to 6.5 when I water.
When I feed, I first add the nutes, and then adjust the pH back to 6.5 using either pH UP or DOWN as necessary.

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
6.5 pH adjusted tap water with low initial ppm..

Are you using water from a water softener?
No

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
No

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
No

Are plant's infected with pest's?
No

Any help and opinions are appreciated..

Hummm I use flora series since some years, and always use grow, and if you read the flora series 's table K you'll haven't no problem, just in soil put half a dose

Hmmm, I did flush them a while ago, but that only made the problem worse...

Are you sure its over feeding and not under feeding?

The problems started before I even fed them :S

Yes it's over feeding, you are in soil not in hydro so the problem is from a longer. Flush it and wait ^^

Edit: hummm control your PH too

I flushed them around a week ago, and during the week they got much worse.

The 2 seedlings I did not feed, but they still have problems..

And in "The Complete guide to Sick Plants,pH, and Pest troubles" there is a picture of a Phosphorus deficiency in flower and it looks like that:

(Above is the photo taken from that thread)

(Below is the photo of my plant)

What do you think?

More help and opinions would be nice :)

if you have tested the run off is it ok for tds/ph b 6.8 is a little high. then you need to test the tds of the nutes and run off . it is either lockout or overdose i dont see any where in your post where you are using a salt meter for tds/ppm which is a must like cristalin'bud said looks like burn and ph issue

i have not used biobizz light mix or lucas formula but the light mix has a neutral ph and 1.2 ec or 600 ppm right out of the bag. so what was the lucas ppm when you made it up i think lucas is like 950 ppm at full strength which would be like 1550ppm really high when max ppm is like 1800 to 2000 at most.

I see, thanks.

I need to get the TDS/ppm meter ASAP then..

The light mix labeling said it was pH 6.2 so i added some lime, but i added too much, so I had to mix in small amount of different soil which had a much lower pH, to bring it back down to acceptable levels..

That soil was much richer than the light mix, and maybe that is contributing to the problems..
