Do you cull weak clones or let em grow?

Dammit, SML said what I came here to say. Sometimes, if I have the room, I just let em stay in veg and throw em in with the next round. Hell this time I had 33 plants left over (they were fine, just not as big as the 60 I flowered) so next month they will be monsters!

Not sure WTF to do with the 130 babies in preveg in their 4" pots, I don't have room in veg for more than about 100 plants in there total. LOL, I consider it to be a good problem though!

I take close to 1/3 extra, so I can have all the big fat well rooted ones. Only the strong survive over here!

I hate throwing out clones even if they are a bit dodgy. I tend to keep everyone and turn the extras into mother plants.

A TRAY OF 70 CLONES, I KEPT EVERY ONE

I take 120 clones (EZ 120) and use 90 for flowering.

The weaker ones take the place of old mothers I have.

why would you want a weak plant for a new mom . your asking for trouble. i take the best 2 for moms. yes 2 moms of each

They're all genetically identical clones; some did better than others.

The mothers will have the same genetics that their better growing sisters did.

Normally I would cull a weak clone ..Unless of-course it was something so special I didn't want to let it go.. I have done that before too lol peace out Headband707

Nope, but there's many threads arguing this. Genetics don't dilute with cloning.

Well I actually don't believe that one either as most strains if not all lose something through time. This is why ppl are always looking for the "holy grail "continuing that search.
Cloning off of clones is a bad idea..
Taking from mom's is better but after a few years they do seem to get tried syndrome or you get immune take your pick.
Saying all that I have had bud that was amazing but they come and then GO ..lol.. It would be nice to find a bud that you didn't get immune too. I have found a few but again they come and go lol peace out Headband707:)

They're not necessarily "weak", they're just behind.

This can be fine for moms as time is less of a factor, if you're set up well you won't choke if you have to give it a couple extra weeks. Those stronger cuts need to be taken advantage of ASAP in flower. Matter of fact I've found that some of the best moms can come from some stumpy cuts that you can get fimming when they're still super short, giving you that great bonsai effect

Depends on where I am at with my numbers. If I am under I let them do there thing and try to save them. Otherwise they get the ax

See, I wonder if taking the weak ones for moms will kind off dilute the genetics.

I dont think so.The navel orange has been cloned and grafted for over 180 years all around the world as it is a mutant that does not produce seeds.I would hate to quess how many generations have been cloned since the original.
as far as weak clones go,some of my best plants have come from runty clones, hell, the ones I have at the mo were only an inch tall and from budding mothers but I know they are gunna be killer.:)

Sorry bro you are wrong lol.. Oranges are not bud although cannabis is a plant it doesn't hold the same characteristics as fruit bearing plants. We know this as we grow it and see that each plant is uniquic. You can pull two clones from the same mom and grow them differently if you put each in a different enviorment. BTW organges are not as good as they used to be ,,just sayin.. lol peace out Headband707:tiphat:

I do both. Sometimes it's obvious a particular clone hasn't rooted and NEEDS to be pulled, but if left for an extra day or two; 10-15% finally take off and look GREAT !

I have to say that I have found some real nice plants by not killing off the runts. In fact I have a thread going called "The Runt" This plant was small when it was put into veg, It was in there for 7 weeks and only got 25" tall. fat ass leaves. looks like a pure indi to me. The seed came from my 25 year old collection. At that time it had 13 nodes from the top to the bottom and they were very very close together. Well flower and she stretches about a foot and she is right now 7 1/2 weeks into flower and What a mistake it would have been to kill her off!

You never know what's in them until the end.
