When to pull the plug

I have two plants that look more dead than alive in a scrog grow of four plants. They are all at 7 weeks and are 8 week variety plants. The almost dead looking plants have few green leafs and are mostly yellow with purpling. They are still drinking water. And the buds still look like they are alive and still building volume and tric's are clear.

In the past i would have pulled them, but for this run i think I will let the buds fully ripen, despite how bad the plants look. The only time I actually knew my plants were toast is when I had some freeze outdoors in Oct a few years ago.

Seems silly but, I'm not sure when death occurs. Is it when the stems fall over? or when? Is there any reason to let them stay? Anyone have experience with this? thanks scrappy

mate mine are purple and blue because of the weather - and i let them do that because it makes primo weed. Even my greenest strains show purple tinges if I let the night temps drop low. Some of my last lot had nearly no leaves left - but the calyx's were giant and iced with crystal!

edit: all i lost was a little yield

sounds like they might just be senescing scrappy. if they are dead the plant will be crispy rather than soft.

best way to tell if they are ripe is to look at the trics through a magnifier of some kind. you want them to me mostly milky (rather than clear) and some amber (how much amber is a matter of choice)

Does it look like a tree leaf in fall? Yellow, reddish, purplish? If so you are OK. Your plant is 'sucking' nutrients out of the leaves to put more energy into bud production.

Something like this?

No, this been a problem since week two. Not the normal yellowing at These look almost dead, but the buds look alright. The main issue was lockout related....scrappy
