bleach at 1-2ml/gal added every 1-2 days (or as soon as the your res stops smelling like a swimming pool.)
but you shouldn't have root rot if you're aerating the res sufficiently and keeping temps close to 65F. Beneficial microbes help as well (don't use w/ bleach of course.)
Circulation and air stones. Moving water with air contact is natures cure for slimey swamp water. Movement and air contact also cool the water below ambient temperature. Expirement and upgrade until you find the right combination. If you have a small tornado/cyclone with thunder and lightning inside the DWC tank you should probably back it down a bit , but until you create your own weather event in the tank just keep adding more air and turbulence. The root bundle will let you know when it gets in its happy place.
Most simple thing is to keepnuts temperatures below 20 C. If u get higher with temps higher the rish of catching a problem. In higher temps u can add hydroperoxide to rais 0^2 concetration in the mix
Low temps, high O^2 absorbtion, lower chance of bacterial growth
High temps, low O^2 absorbtion, higher chance of bacterial growth
iv got a 27 gallon tub with 8 1" air stones under each net cup and a 45 LPM air pump.
iv been adding h2o2 but am still getting this clear translucant looking slime but the roots are still white but just not wanting to grow into the water. iv been keeping the water temps 65-70F
aqua shield/ hydro guard here. its a cheap compost solution from bontanicare that works pretty well at the suggested application rate. Keeps my roots pearly white. i will note that it will not work if your temps are out of control. 65-70 max
I would imagine it'd be fine in hydro where you aren't really relying on microorganisms to preprocess your nutes as much, but I'd kick myself in the stones before touching a dirt grow with chlorine
