I gotta cut a bunch of holes in my wall...im not sure if my walls are actually drywall or not, they are made of this really tough rocklike pink colored stuff.

My friend gave me a little hand saw but this thing is not working, its gonna take my hours to cut what i need to cut and its taking a toll on my feeble arms lol...

so what do you guys use to make holes for exhaust, etc...here is what im looking at

Agree. Next best in my book would be the Jigsaw. After that...or depending on the location and accessibility of the hole would be a Rotozip type cutter. Basically a plunge bit you drag through the work...what the hell do they call those anyway? For some holes in precarious spots I found those to work best/easiest.

Dude... Be careful.... Theres wires and pipes behind drywall.... If you know its empty, then by all means, use a Sawzall. Go for it. Greatest tool ever made. BUT it will cut through ANYTHING.... if theres something behind it, its gone. Right now you can get a cheap sawzall on sale at home depo or Lowes. You can get a 10 pack of blades for $15. Good luck on your endeavors. Hole saws are good to.

And like Dvil said.... Look at RotoZips.... Theyre sweet, and you can cut any shape you need.... Either is a dusty mess... RotoZip is worse....

Good luck

Sounds tougher than drywall?
Maybe drill a ring of small holes and then run the saber saw around and use a rasp to smooth out the circle.

I've got a fancy adjustable hole saw with two cutters and a shield. It needs my 1/2" corded drill to power through aged wood for a 8" hole. Carbide points will likely work better than steel for your application.

i use a drywall knife, that way I can just pierce the dry wall and I have total control. I wouldnt use a power tool to cut drywall. A hand knife that is made to cut drywall is all you need. Just use the end of the knife to avoild cutting wires, pipes etc.

yea i think its plaster maybe....the wall has two layers gotta puncture one side then puncture the other....im using a 18v drill with the wall driller and made a ring of holes but the handsaw is really taking a toll.

so for a holesaw i just get one of these bits and throw it into my 18volt dewalt? that sounds way easier than buying a sawzall..

thats exactly what im using now...but i think my walls are plaster not drywall....ive punched holes through drywall with my bare hands but not these walls lol. im pretty sure theres no wires/pipes this is a remote bedroom the wires come from a breakerbox in the basement thats wired through the floor i saw the electrician install it. there might be a cable tv line in there but no tv in the grow room so all good.

i really want one of these.....it would cut 2x4 and other wood so much easier than my freakin handsaw..i remember using one of these back in highschool shop its real versatile

hole saw harbour freight has a set for like 9 bucks.. draw your circle use hole saw in a 2 passes then you can even use a box cutter to cut out the rest if you dont have a drywall saw.. no need to go buy all kinds of tools.. easy peasy lemon squeezy.. peace n pufs.

First and most important get a stud sensor make sure your clear of pipes and wiring. If it is drywall a hand drywall saw should cut right through, drywall you can punch through with a screwdriver and use a steak knife to saw the hole. You might have a lath and plaster wall,if so drill a hole big enough for a jig saw and go nuts. You can get a bag of plaster to tighten up the hole, keep the bag for when you move on.

Go big or go home.....

i would get the sawzall...it will cut through most everything, get a good blade and you could take a car apart in a mater of hours;)

that said i use either an exacto or a gyprock knife.....

but if your unsure if its gyprock, or have too hard a problems, go with the sawzall, good investment, you could get one for anywhere between 70$ to 400$.....i would get a cheap one

12 " hole! you gotta pick your spots carefully N go in between the stud bays you dont want to have to cut any studs out, I wolud use a few hand tools and a holesaw and jigsaw combo to attack these 12 "rs
