MY upstate NY isn't New England. And I didn't get anywhere near 9-1/2 Ft.(!) But I could see Vermont from where I did my Chiesel grow. When did you plant?
And what do you think of the buzz?!. This is easily the most uplifting stuff I've ever tried.
Lemme know what you think.

I planted it out the first week in May. I planted two about six feet apart but one got eaten when small. The cutting was only 6 inches when I planted it. The cut had a small side branch which turned into another top :)

My friend grew this out indoors and it was just ok. He gave me the cuts because he didn't want them. It came out much better outdoors :)

Well nice job! What sort of soil or site prep - if any? - did you do to get such amazing results. In the perfect world, you planted in May (<-pretty early for Mass., no?) and left it to come back to a REALLY pleasant October surprise. Or was it more involved than that? Nice job in any case. Glad you got a picture of the FOREST BEAST.

I dug a hole as big as I could...2 1/2 deep and used a combo of that earth ,which was sandy and pro mix. I watered it a few times (5 gal) and fed it pureblendpro each time. We had some really bad weather in the end of Sept. and the large branch on the left split and was on the ground. I taped and tied it up as best I could...when I went back with rope and stakes the whole plant was flat on the ground. It bounced back rather well :)
