Gravity Method ICE Hash

Hi
Recently I found an interesting article in a german hemp magazine about an alternate method ti make ice hash.
For those who don't speak german, just look at the pictures, here is the abstract:
This method doesn't use sieves like the bubblebags to seperate the resin from plant material but only gravity and time. After a while all the heavy resin glangs will sink to bottom of the sepperation vessle while all the light plant material will float to the top. The bottom is then drained slowly trough a coffee filter to get rid of all the excess water.
The writer of the article claims that the method productes more high quality hash then normal bubblebags. He was able to produce 17 grams of ice hash from 150 grams of cutting. 12 grams of which being of better quality than from the finest bubblebag, 5grams being of about the same quality as 70µ bubblehash.

After doing some more research I found an article in "Treating Yourselfe" issue 19 (page 28 - Ice Wars) which is about the same machine, but focuses more on on the history of this device and it's relation to bubble bags.

Also I found a shop selling this extractor, though it's way overpriced in my oppinion. Seperatory funnels which do exactly the same have been used in chemistry for ages and are avaliable at much cheaper prices in any store for lab equipment.
This method of seperating substances by density using gravity is well known and has been applied in chemistry ever since. The "inventor" of the XTR was only the first one who figured it can be used to make hash and charge people money for a device to do so.

However, I still think this method is worth a shot. Next time I have some cuttings I will try it for sure.
What do you guys think about it ?

Hey thanks for the info, mate. Thankfully there was a translator option on the link which sort of made sense. I've got a lot of trimmings I can now do something worthwhile with.

Hi ya'll!

If you are simply looking for scalping buckets for the Gumby process, consider pop riveting about $6.50 worth of stainless mesh to a $4.95 bucket.

Note the 3/8" wire cloth underneath for support.
