I have yet to go get the new tube tested been real busy lately.

On a side note my replication study is now under way. I will be posting pics that my horti sends me. the 1st month will be with safe tube then after that we will replace the tube with a brand new box of the NGW tube. That was given to me by some one fortunate enough to hear about the problem before he used it. Also we have officially filed the case as of today.

:tiphat: It's been said over & over, but can't be said enough...Great Job UGU!

I thought I would add some info I found on Phthalates, hope it helps:

"Unfortunately, it's not particularly easy to avoid phthalates.

You'll rarely find the word "phthalates" on a label (except for the occasional "phthalate-free," which is helpful).

Here are three tips for identifying products that have, or are likely to have, phthalates or another compound that has raised similar concerns and is found in similar products, Bisphenol A.

1.Read the ingredients. According to the organization Pollution in People, you can identify phthalates in some products by their chemical names, or abbreviations:

◦DBP (di-n-butyl phthalate) and DEP (diethyl phthalate) are often found in personal care products, including nail polishes, deodorants, perfumes and cologne, aftershave lotions, shampoos, hair gels and hand lotions. (BzBP, see below, is also in some personal care products.)
◦DEHP (di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate or Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate) is used in PVC plastics, including some medical devices.
◦BzBP (benzylbutyl phthalate) is used in some flooring, car products and personal care products.
◦DMP (dimethyl phthalate) is used in insect repellent and some plastics (as well as rocket propellant).
2.Be wary of the term "fragrance," which is used to denote a combination of compounds, possibly including phthatates, which are a subject of recent concern because of studies showing they can mimic certain hormones.
3.Choose plastics with the recycling code 1, 2 or 5. Recycling codes 3 and 7 are more likely to contain bisphenol A or phthalates."

Was in a shop a few days back and they had an e+f table setup and the plants looked like absolute shit. So I check the tube, sure enough NGW.COM in big fucked up letters, I told the owner it was the tubing. He tells me it is a big seller. I wonder if anything will come of it.

Thank you sir

I do have about 7’ of ½ “ blue in the growroom…..I did buy it about 16 months before your first post…..I have plenty of ventilation, and so far good grows with only one anomaly. My Ph runs abnormally low.

Snoopytime posted that he was fighting the problem with Ph up…..anybody notice a lowering of Ph w/ the NGW hose.

I’m in southern California, so I bought the hose from BGHydro. I just checked their website and their ½ “ blue hose is now from General Hydroponics. Looks like U.G.U. is changing some things over there. :tiphat:

Any feedback on the low Ph would be appreciated.

Thanks,
HMR

Hey there man, I discovered the PH dropping was a result of the unhealthy plants. My theroy is that since they cant make chlorophyl, they cant make energy from the light. Thus, they dont make the sugars that feed the roots at lights out. SO the root cells are unable to have a healthy immune system, and get infected with bad bacteria. So in the long run, Physan20 then a daily dose of hydro-fungicide for around 8-10 days solved the problem *AFTER* there was no more NGW.com hose in the room.

Snoopytime,

I appreciate your getting back to me. I consider myself fortunate in that my grow couldn't look much better. That said, the hose still goes.

Possibly I just have a light touch of root rot....or not.

So many variables,
HMR

damn, i just picked up some unmarked 3/4"
now i gotta try to figure out where it came from
it definitely has a chloriney chemical smell too it
now i'm all paraniod
i went through the hydrohut woes and some tubing issues for over a year

the smell of the tubing is actually quite strong
i looked at some adverts for other "non toxic" tubing that says its odorless
30 bucks of tubing to the trash
suck a duck!!!

First cola from a no-NGW.COM-hose scenario thx to UGU!

It was only a 14" DJ TBB when I threw it in the big kids room, wanted to see if I could grow one start to finish without the leaves falling off.

I moved locations and happened to buy some NGW. Luckily I stumbled upon this thread within a week. But I have brought up the problem to three hydro stores that stocked NGW and two of them didnt even care. Sad day for me

I've encountered the 'claime' on two occations. I build a room with two guys 4 years back, and looking back it was acctually a damn nice room....but!! We used linoleum flooring, and without knowing we had hanged ourselfes before getgo. We placed 18 HUGE plants in the room, vegged outside and were green as green, nothing to put a finger on.
Within a week they all looked like they had walked through a dessert. Yellow all over and leaves slowly drying up and falling off....all plants died:cry:
Before my current setup I was running a hydro setup, and I expirienced similar problems here. Of course no linoleum floor...but SuperPedro brought to my attention that there is a problem with some of the garden hoses we use here in Denmark. They addmit something to the water when beeing staggenent/ standing still for a day or two........the water coming out...the first few liters...stink..!!!! Like rotten ass.......a strange rubberdecay smell, that when first notticed I thought it to be enzymes that were messing up my feedingwater..! But after changeing the tubing used to aquarium grade hose, it went away as fast as it came:dance013:. I use a garedn hose now for watering my bio-bed, but every time I fill up the tank, I disscard of the first few liters, it stinks and as I would'nt drink it myself I won't feed it to my plants....yes I've tasted the nute-mix i make with BAC organic program. Icetoker told me he had done it so i figued since hes still alive and kicking....I give it a go....but tastes sweet like molassis....
I'll swop it for aquarium grade hose soon.......makes me feel safer...!!!! hope to be of any help of any kind....food for thought!!!

BGHydro….Fails to deliver!

BGHydro….Fails to deliver!

I ordered the General Hydroponics ½ “ tube….what did they send but NGW. Obviously they don’t give a shit either.

Being Saturday I e-mailed them this:

Your catalog listed 1/2 " blue hose as from General Hydroponics......you shipped N.G.W. hose that you've been warned as bad. I'm more than dissapointed.....not only that you shipped the wrong item....but that you still distribute N.G.W. hose at all.
Very bad form BGHydro!

I’ll call Monday to speak to the higher up’s.

If you feel like calling too….the number is 1 877 640-GROW

Don’t be a duck,

I have a tent from HTG supply that has plastic PVC tubing. Have yet to grow in it but it is set up. any one know if these tents are affected?

I emailed BGHydro a few weeks ago and ask them if they were aware of the problem and they sent me a reply that said they were aware of the problem. I got the feeling they were pissed at me for emailing them about it.
