Yep, hopefully soon travelers will be free to carry all along the Western Green Belt LOL

Montana, WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, NM... we just need to work on Idaho and Utah (UT ain't gonna happen).

Texas would be a big feather in the canna cap.

CONGRATULATIONS ARIZONA!!!

now watch as all the scumbags emerge like larvae from a hot cheeselog...doublecross and back stabbing, lies and betrayals... forget all about brotherhood and cooperation cause we're talking about money and greed. i see it all the time here in CO and it's very discouraging. i have learned not to trust ANYONE in the mmj 'movement'.

the whole thing is so hypocritical... a fucking shame and it makes me sick...

now. do what you can before the palin administration kicks down your doors.

sorry i am not so positive, but i live in CO, one of the "best" mmj states... hell we even got an amendment. it's so good here everybody is going back underground...

Yea but the mmj laws in your state have made the underground a hell of a lot less dark than it was before.

The underground in Arizona was as dark as darkness gets until a couple days ago.

o yea, anything that causes consternation in law enforcement is a good thing! we have had the jackboots pay back growers after they confiscated plants and let them die. real money, and it makes them look bad wasting hard earned taxes. so now they are pickier about kicking down doors and intimidating families. yes. this is a good thing.

i hope it happens there soon and i'm sure it will.

you are in for a wild ride...

my mom called me this morning and asked about the program and if i could set her up with a grow op (so shed know what she was smoking)... i was surprised by the call but very happy to take it.

shes been a hard core drinker for 50+ years so the chance to get her smoking pot instead of vodka makes me smile. and im thinking shell smoke less cigarettes too if shes smoking js... anyways

Proposition 203 – Arizona Medical Marijuana Act
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Proposition 203 or the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act?
Proposition 203 would allow a "qualifying patient" who has a "debilitating medical condition" to obtain
an "allowable amount of marijuana" from a "nonprofit medical marijuana dispensary" and to possess
and use the marijuana (cannabis) to treat or alleviate the debilitating medical condition or symptoms
associated with the condition. The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) would be required
to adopt and enforce a regulatory system for the distribution of marijuana for medical use, including a
system for approving, renewing and revoking the registration of qualifying patients, designated
caregivers, nonprofit dispensaries, and dispensary agents. The costs of the regulatory system would be
paid from application and renewal fees collected, civil penalties imposed, and private donations
received pursuant to this proposition.
Who Would Qualify to Receive a Medical Marijuana Card?
A "qualifying patient" is defined in Proposition 203 as a person who has been diagnosed by a physician
(a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, naturopathic medicine, or homeopathy) as having one of the
following debilitating medical conditions:
Cancer
Glaucoma
Positive status for human immunodeficiency virus
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome
Hepatitis C
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Crohn's disease
Agitation of Alzheimer's disease
A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition that produces any of the following:
Cachexia or wasting syndrome
Severe and chronic pain
Severe nausea
Seizures (including those characteristic of epilepsy) or
Severe and persistent muscle spasms (including those characteristic of multiple
sclerosis)

AZDHS director's blog

Hey Greyskull, this link will give you the latest on the schedule for implementing the program.
Stay tuned to the director's blog for future updates.

There's already some folks calling themselves the first dispensary, though they certainly don't have any license yet.
I fully intend on becoming a caregiver, just need to find some patients!

There's already doctors who have started mmj rec offices. Dozens of dispensaries are already with complete business plans and storefronts waiting to pounce on the application the day the AZHSD starts taking them. Tons of money. $150,000 is the kind of money being put into these places.

I'm getting the feeling that my 20 page business plan and low rent location won't look as good to the Health Dept. compared to those guys with the business experience and money.

I'm hoping to get on this wagon as a caregiver.

The 25 mile halo of no personal growing around a dispensary sucks balls unless you own the place. But maybe as a caregiver or dispensary agent, I might be able to get a legal grow going.

It's kind of disheartening to see a bunch of businessmen get to do this when me and all my love of this plant will be relegated to the margin, to hope for crumbs.

^^^^^^ and if thats the case. you need to go lobby your local people to get LOW COST AFFORDABLE MARIJUANA. something on a sliding scale. Also it may be for protection of the growers? so they cant be so easly pinpointed? im not too sure. But yeah, that law is BS.

Growing marijuana is the hardst thing to ever get Legalized in this movement. Thats where i saw any props with growing marijuana in it. a chance of a life time.

The folks at the Az MMJ Project said the 25 mile no grow bubble is so that the dispensaries will be viable. Sounds to me like a recipe for giant paychecks.

The Director of the Health dept said he expects 100,000 apps in the first year, though I don't know about that. I think that was just him trying to scare the antis into voting NO on 203.
If so at only 124 allowed dispensaries, that's 800 patients per dispensary.

If that isn't viable for a non-profit org, i don't know whatg is.

Anyway, I'm examining the way caregivers do their thing in CO and will model my business after some of them.

One way or another, I'm going to make a legal living in MMJ.

If I got an AZ dispensary license, I would turn away the (theoretical) 550 person "share" of the market. That's way too big to be fun, and with top notch quality control and savvy bookkeeping and money management, a dispensary with 175 members could be just as viable as your average dispensary with 550 members but run by ham-fisted goons.

The caregiver gig in AZ won't be bad, if you can find the patients outside of the halo. Growing for 5 people who all use/buy their 2.5 ounces every 2 weeks could be a decent living.

Good luck to all of you. Stay safe but be bold. Make it happen. Never forget INTEGRITY and COMPASSION.

just a heads up to AZ growers:

what some of the centers here have done is hire the growers who supplied them before they had to grow it themselves, promise them the moon, and then after their genetics are securely in their stable they give the grower the boot!

...don't know what the setup will be in AZ, but growers take note!

i would suggest that if an owner of a center offers you a job, take it! ... but with the stipulation that the genetics aren't included. tell him that you know how to obtain good genetics and can do it while working for him. THEN see if the offer still stands.

you'll find out pretty quick where he is coming from.

Thanks draco. Good thing to stay vigilant of. Any other tips you have from experience with the slimeballs in the cannabiz, please let me know. Essentially, our little pond is having a truckload of sharks dumped into it; I'd like to stay away from em.

yeah... there is no "we" in this business.

there will be a lot of uncertainty as to legality. don't get caught setting up something costly that can be wiped out at one city council meeting. this may be a problem; we have had this amendment since 2000 and legality is still a murky issue... i have seen a guy set up a "questionable" grow - he knew it wouldn't last, but he got a few crops in before the ax fell and he made some $. i suspect that many have and will do this...

i would say to start building your own genetics; it is great product that will carry the day, no matter which way you decide to go (center or caregiver). and trust only yourself for your livelihood.

you're gonna see some shit...

Thanks draco. It's profoundly sad what greed and hyper-competitive business practices can do to a community.
