Counting AF Days Seed or Sprout?

Just wondered what the general consensus on what day you guys start on for your AF's?

Breeders generally state a seed-harvest time, but I've always counted from the day they pop out of the soil for me

I count from sprout. If they germinate over 2 or 3 days, I usually consider day 1 as the day that had more sprouts, an average if you will.

ount from Seed - Harvest, from the time germination is started to the time they are cut down.

That way an accurate complete time that they are in the garden can be known.

Tropic I do exactly the same. If I have sprouts pop up over 3 days (easy occurrence with a big batch) I take the average day and call it day 1

When seed banks list their times they count from day of planting, not sprouting, so I do the same. Plus not all seeds in a given planting will pop on the same day so it just makes it easier to count from day of planting instead of tracking individual plants as they pop.

Muddy, have you ever had a strain that was ripe in the timeframe the breeder advertised, while counting days from planting? I rarely take AFs down before 9-10 weeks (from sprout), because they always seem to be able to pump some more (and they do).

No, I've never had an auto finish in less than 9-10 weeks. My last batch of Diesel Ryders indoors went 11 weeks. Outdoors they always seem to go a little longer as well, usually 11 or 12 weeks. I also find that I rarely get amber trics on autos. All the fan leaves will be gone and the buds can start to turn brown and still no amber.
