How much light?

Med patient here, due to limits I am going to setup a dedicated veg tent, and a dedicated flower tent.

So I can later expand if I ever want to become a caregiver for a patient or two, I am going with this tent for flowering: (bigger than i need)

In the flower tent, I will only be using half of it for now, so I only need to light half of it which is 49" x 55" and I probably won't even be using all of the available space. If I only put 4-6 plants in there, scrogged, with a 1-2 month veg, how much light do you think is needed? I know a minimum of 600w but technically for that space a 1000w would be best.

I am just concerned that the tent isn't tall enough to house a 1000w, or it will be difficult to cool the tent. I plan on using an air cooled reflector with a 6" inline cooling it through a carbon filter.

I appreciate any advice anyone can give, hopefully some of you have experience with a similar sized grow space.

In a GL120, which is 47"x47"x78", I have a 1000w HPS in a Super Sun 2 (6" air cooled) with a S&P TD-150 6" inline fan and Can 33 Filter running: filter -> fan -> hood -> out.

The tent itself is in a (usually) closed room that's maybe 10x20.

This setup works great. Temps are never even remotely a problem.

I can't imagine you having any trouble running a 1kw in that tent. Not even close.

After doing some reading it seems none of these grow tents are as advertised, as in they aren't light proof. So I will just custom build my own out of 2x4's and black&white poly.

As for the lighting, I think I will try with a 600w since I will have a max of 4-6 plants flowering under it and a max of a 3x3 to 3x4 footprint, no more than 12 square feet which is 50w psf.
