you could try building gulleys or using some sort
of corrigated material(like the stuff on roofs) with chanels for the run off to back
into the res.
then you coud reciculate if you wanted.

I did the above for 2 years..worked fine...
with coco and with soil...

Ijust took down my last recirculating drip in my bubbling bucket...went full DWC..

I've always looked at d-t-w as teh best way...that way nutes and water is always fresh, and recirculating possible nasties...

What is Blumat?

ive changed it a little now i have a 2x2 wood frame what the trays sit on .

Appreciate all the info! So now I'm thinking about building a bunch of 4x8 tables. I just checked the price for pond liner, that ish is expensive! Do you think I could use panda film instead? The panda film is 6 mil thick and a lot cheaper?

You can use the Panda, but it is far easier to make a hole in accidentally and will wear out quicker, again, probably making a hole.

Builders Membrane plastic, visqueen, is almost as good as most pondliner, but way cheaper IIRC.

Varnishing all bare wood is a good idea when you are building, bare it can give mould spores a place to get a hold and if you hole your plastic anywhere it will not just rot the wood below.

Use a header tank, a strong enough pump, LDPE piping and drippers to each plant.

Put them on gardening trays, give a slight angle and drain into a res.

Regarding film, just make sure it's strong enough to resist rips and tears, as panda film tears easier than thicker pond liner.

Peace

I've used the top spins, and other distributor caps also, but found that they clog too often for my liking, so i ended up going from main line to drip lines were much easier.

Just me though...now i'm in DWC...
