I have a 15 watt flourecent light for my clones. Will that be enough? Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you.

you should be alright with that... keep it about 18" above or so just dont want have too much heat on-m, are you useing a dome or are they open air?

I use a 11 watt cfl (3500k) @18 inches above my bubbler. Works like a charm.

I like to use one 65k 23w and one 27k 23w CFL a couple feet above my clones. I don't have any proof but it seems slightly faster than one 65k bulb. who knows?

Thank you for the input. It's actually a 2' T5 or T8 I forget which one. I'm using rockwool and a humidity dome. Should I keep the vent open or closed? Sorry, this is my first time cloning. Pictures to come!

I keep the vents open on my dome, I take it off after 5 days or so.

if it's a T5 they are bright, consider un-screwing all the bulbs but 1 and still keep it a fair distance from the clones.

if it's a T8 they can sit close.

T5 are skinny bulbs T8 are like old school fat tubes

Im using a cheap 14 dollar 300 Watt Home depot CFL 3500 in a cheap 7 dollar reflector and I have roots in 5-7 days on most of my strains. No need for a T5. uses about 30 watts total i think.

I noticed that T8 work much better than T5. T5's are just to bright. I have cut alot of clones too. Thousands...

I put my cuttings in rapid rooter plugs in a dome and set them aside. All you are doing is getting them to make roots not grow just root. So little light is needed. Mine may get just indirect light sometimes and I do just fine.

I start taking the dome off as soon as I can. I dont spray. The high humidity is just to keep the plant happy while it goes through some changes. Some strains never need a humidity dome, others do. After a day or two, the dome starts coming off for good parts of the day to start hardening them. I've found they take longer to root when they get enough water from the atmosphere.

Cloning is probably the most contentious subject here at IC. Punchline is, if you get roots, you did it right.

That said, if you can do without domes, misting or spraying (it can be done) I'd recommend you do so as this will prevent the need for dome weaning. Once plants get used to high RH, they hate to give it up. Dome weaning cost me as much as 60% of my rooted cuts.

Yep, dimmer light is better. You can tell it's too bright when the cuts' growing tips turn yellow because they're trying to grow.

The response to this has been great. Thank you so much. Turns out I have a 15 watt T8. The bulb has a smokey decorative cover with it. Should I keep that on or remove it? The light is about 17-18 inches from the clones. I'm seeing some small nubbs. Does that mean they are starting to root?

I always set my clones to the side of my T5 multibulb units
the get the indirect lighting and do fine like that.
clones don't need very much in the lite dept.

Rooting clones, mothers and stasis plants, need very little light, just get some flouro tubes in there, and make sure the temperature is in check.

Sometimes flouros don't put out much heat, and as a result the clone area gets too cold.

Wattage isn't too important as long as you have 2 - 4 tubes on your plants

KISS ^^ always worked for me. No domes nothing fancy. Just a cup of water, fresh cuts, time and 2 t12s all I ever needed and has always worked fine

light allows photosynthesis to proceed, causing a need for fluids. since you have no roots this will create stress. humidity dome is to equalize the fluid exchange from photosynthesis and reduce transpiration. no need for much light during this period.
need for light when roots develop. imo
