Ground breaking idea :dunno:

Hi

I have come up with an idea but dont know if it is doable. I have searched but can not find anything.

We all know that the hot air venting is a big thing. I have come up with an idea and was wondering if it can be done. Instead of pumping the hot air outside could you send it straight into an air conditioning unit then blow that outside.

Cheers for your time :)

to expensive, especially for bigger designs. also would use up alot of electricity. my 2cents.

Thanks for the replys lads.

Not really bothered about cost. Would this work, make a big box type thing out of wood then place the a/c unit inside. Vent the hot air from the grow tent into the box which has the a/c unit in. Then vent the cold air from the a/c unit outside?

Cheers

Yeah I don't see why that wouldn't work assuming you control the smell in or before it gets to the A/C box.

How about an even more radical/possibly cheaper (certainly long term anyway) solution (prob. been brought up before though):

Depending on your grow location (basement clearly the best), you could send the hot air through a loooong metal duct buried underground or down through the house to the basement before its vented outside.

It would definitely have to be field tested as I don't really know how much length you would need to make the air significantly cooler. But we all know a few feet underground its way cooler. Yay passive cooling!

Again, don't know if this is feasable and it would take a lot of work to bury the ducting (I'll bet you could rent a machine used to make long holes like they use to run irrigation systems), but it could work.

To optimize it you would need quality ducting that would be able to withstand the pressure of being buried as well as be able to conduct heat well and I'm not sure where you would get that.

Thoughts?

Brilliant idea but concrete floor so impossible to do :)

I don't get why your cooling the air before venting outside? I'm definitely missing something here :chin:

Want to reduce my heat signature so can not get picked up by FLIR.

Pretty sure its to avoid detection by infrared cameras... right?

Spot on :)

Oh yeah, one more idea that might work since you can't go through your floor (I guess you either don't have a basement or its simply too sketchy to put a duct through a window/wall and into the ground lol...) is you can vent through an unused toilet. I've seen it done somewhere on here or cannabis.com forums. The guy vented through the toilet straight into the sewers. That was pretty brilliant. I don't know enough about plumbing to do it but you could certainly learn! Of course this wouldn't work if you have a septic tank or if you don't have an unused toilet though. Again, don't know much about plumbing but if you're dedicated enough to stealthiness I wouldn't be above jack-hammering myself a new sewer line or getting someone else to do it. All you would have to say is you're putting in a new bathroom or planning for the future perhaps...

totally feasible...put an ozone generator in that box and you are golden, unless its you on the upper floors of that apartment complex, then you don't concern yourself with it.
