Hey, guys.

Please let me know what's new and exciting out there. I would like to know what you guys are going nuts for right now. Nothing from the old guard, like Diesels, Chems, Kushes, etc... Is there anything truly NEW and EXCITING out there that the community is talking about? Not some nice clone that one person likes, but something being talked about.

I have been without high speed internet for a while now, therefore I can't surf these boards nearly as much as I'd like to. We live in the woods, too far from civilization (apparently) to get a cable or DSL connection.

Pictures and detailed descriptions would be greatly appreciated, but not necessary... I'm just curious.

That's kind of what I thought. Not much going on. Come on, guys! Let's get some new gear going! The whole cannabis world can't revolve around Chem and Kush! I guess I will have to do it myself! hehehe Maybe a fried chicken-flavored pot, or oak! hahaha Rockstar energy drink-flavored! No... tequilla-flavored!

I remember back in the early days of Overgrow or this site, when new, exciting genetics were being circulated, and by virtue of sharing, the community fell in love with certain clones and kept sharing them, passing them on and on. The clones with staying power would stick, the ones that were just not quite up to snuff would fizzle. Is that not going on at all anymore?

That is an unfortunate but true statement..The current state of the cannabis world is obsessed with Chem and kush crosses...In my personal opinion growers and breeders need to concentrate their efforts on landrace genetics..In order to find the new holy jewel..

The only new-ish thing that's caught my eye is blue dream. I know some cali folk might scoff at this seeing how circulated it is out there (especially commercially), but I'm a sucker for haze crosses. I'd love to grow that one... I've smoked 'mershy BD that's been shipped back east and I'm sure it would be the kills if grown nice...

Yes it does certainly seem like there has been a lot of stagnation in the community in the last few years.

There is a lot of great grass floating around the medical community under various names though, even if they don't carry much hype.

I'm so friggin tired of diesels too. I remember five or six years ago seeing daywrecker diesel for the first time and being wowed. Thought I might never see it again. Then I saw sour d. Then neither of them went away for a LONG time now and I'm tired of them.

I still like gdp though, perhaps I just don't see enough of it.

The only two new things I've tried that I've been impressed with is the black berry kush clone that got so popular, and "pineapple".

I see a lot more hobby breeding going on, I know that's what keeps me busy. Popping my own and other friend's X's, always looking!

In the last yr. or so a lot more folks are growing haze for the 1st time it seems.
Sooner or later something's gonna surface that'll create a stir!

Had my first chance to deal with BD only recently. I think it's a very good but not great strain. It for sure has a lot of things going for it and all around a super nice package. Yes if grown well it's very nice but not kill in my book but for sure a lot more potential than most strains out there. Still you can grow big BD plants that are high quality with a little attention to detail.

Coolest thing I've seen in the last year was Dr. Walker's Daze from Moonshine Man. He took the classic Albert Walker and pushed it to an entirely new level. What I was lucky enough to sample was from a friend of a friend's private stash, and I don't have the slightest idea where to find it (never seen it in dispensaries), but I'll remember it in the same indelible way I remember the first time I had original Sour D and original Romulan back in 2002. Soaring euphoria, brain numbing potency, unique spicy flavor, effect nearly twice as long as well grown Tahoe OG, which is one of my all time favorites. Hopefully it will make the rounds soon.

There's a special Tangerine Haze that's going around right now that's worthy of mention, too. Flavor comparable to Agent Orange or Aeric77 CaliO with Blue Dream yield and devastating potency. Really heady stuff.

I snagged the last pack of REv's Chunky Cherry Malawi off the bay a few hours ago, and I'm really excited to see how it turns out. Probably won't get around to it until the spring, though. I'm sure others will be posting finished results before mine even germ, but it seems like there's serious potential, and i'll be making F2s and then searching for my new gem among the progeny.

A friend in the UK was telling me that a strain called Killerskunk is really popular with the connoisseur crowd over the pond, but that's just hearsay.

I don't see the Diesel/Chem/Kush obsession fading soon, but I think there are enough talented people working on interesting projects that we'll start seeing unique new elites in the very near future.
