Interesting how the value of marijuana plants drops so drastically from the post bust press release to the wrongful seizure lawsuit afterwards. I thought a 40 plant bust was usually claimed at at least a couple hundred grand.

these settlements are obviously a huge conflict of interest, sure I'd love to get broke off 1.7 big ones for having to deal with all the shit that goes with getting popped...but in the current economic state of CA it really seems like law enforcement would stop throwing taxpayer money into the pit....I mean honestly, when was the last time law enforcement actually won a case dealing with MMJ? I would take a guess and say that the only time a patient isn't granted his/her rights is when they themselves are unaware of them, leaving a window of opportunity for law enforcement to try and make an example of them and continue the fear mongering...My street needs sweeping, please stop arresting people that your not going to convict, please stop paying out ludicrous settlements to those same people...Yes on 19 let's put an end to the states irresponsible spending practices, I want my street cleaned a a new little league field, both are possible once the state stops wasting billions on incrimnating average citezens that take a toke.

okay i get it. and ordinarilly i'd hop on the happy bus with you all, but since the police didn't sling the harvested marijuana and instead let his plants die without harvest, how are they paying him?

that's right you guessed it! your wallets.

so the math is cheap? add court costs attorney fees yada yada..

wait til we do start paying people like Krunch, and yes they both deserve to get paid.

i just think it should come from their budget, not ours.

sell your cop car and take the fucking bus. or reinvent the term flatfoot.......fucking asssicle

Damned fascist MFers

"Basically they told us, 'We're going to enforce federal law,' " said Steenken's attorney, Dana Rosenburg, a specialist in police misconduct cases. "So they're using state money... to enforce federal law, and that's unconstitutional."

that is fucked up. this is why we stay underground. FUCK THE POLICE

It's all Feds, Central Authority, without regard to the rule of law -- as if the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 14th Amendments to the USA Constitution don't mean anything at all.

And it doesn't seem to matter whether they are "mainstream" Democrats OR Republicans, the story is the same -- more persecution and more repression. It's hard to say just when the sheeple will awake from their American Idol / Dancing With The Stars / SuperBowl induced slumber and actually give a good goddamn about their individual rights and personal freedoms -- when martial law is declared?

The only thing that police might possible listen to is losing their money to things like this. Whoever said it is so right, those cops must be in tears thinking about the shiny M4 rifles with ACOG night vision sights, new ballistic level III vests and more fucking dogs they can't buy now. Police are like kids with their toys and if given the choice I GUARANTEE you most police would choose new toys over paying out costs of seized cannabis.

That is a great point! Kind of like the wholesale/retail bshit that happens when you buy or sell gold.

This decision however, is a great one!

I'm becoming more and more convinced that if you sit in until your court date and don't bail your chances of getting shit thrown out in court skyrockets. They don't wanna pay for no broke asses to go to jail.

umm i have a different theory based on more money.

If you post bail, you show that you have money. that means a trial yes, but it also means there might be more to get from you. More assets to seize a chance or to catch you slippin on something.
Also, the longer you sit on a wrongful conviction/arrest or whatever the bigger your punitive award could be in any given civil case.

Again if you got cash to get out, your a threat. IF you stay you are playing possum.

Also, prison industrial complex. Some state official is prolly getting a kick back on having you locked up. They get $200 a day for mexican nationals in AZ.... or so i've heard.
