Who out there changes their res every week?

I use a toothbrush and a stone cleaner they have at the local hydro. I scrub them and then rinse off with the RO water and blow them out. Not sure if the RO is overboard but I figure im not using tap in anything so why clean my stones with it.

This current run I used 2 gallon buckets to save on nutes and it seems to be perfect. On day seven they are ready to be changed.

I change mine between crops, but mine also get topped off with fresh RO constantly, so every few days I go back in and add more ferts. ph is adjusted twice a day to keep it around 5.8. I use a variety of products, most were selected because they are much stronger than their competitors and I don't like to buy water:

I use the AN Sensi line mainly in veg, in flower I use GH Maxibloom/Koolbloom powders, Humboldt Nutrients Verde, and Floranectar. I also use Dynagro Silica and KLN (for cuttings) and AN Final Phase for flushing. Techniflora's Magi-Cal is the best bang for the buck in Cal/mag too. 5 X 55 gallon barrels:

I also foliar with Snowstorm, Purple maxx and Gravity, along with Floramite and Eagle 20 to prevent mites and PM.

Sometimes I change it about once a month, but lately I have just been adding 20 gallons about every week. Just 8ml/g floranova bloom, floraliscious plus, and 3-5ml/g liquid kool bloom when the time is rite. So far topping off with nutes has worked great, The PH stays perfect, I havn't touched my PH meter or PH up or down in a long time. I really like my nutrients, the only way I would change would be if I started growing aeroponic or something... The FNB and floraliscious plus are kind of gunky.

def every week even if those 50 gallons are a pain in the ass after smokin those pains will be gone. plus u wanna flush .....

If you have any organic nutes in circulation you should change res/flush weekly, if you have salt based nutes you only need to change at the flip and whenever you think your plants are suffering

this may surprise some people, but i dont EVER change my res. 3-4 months no res change. i only clean out the system in between grows. i run a 100 gal RCDWC. use floranova nutes, top off about 20-30 gallons a week.

i have not had any ill effects from this. i find that as long as the water is well aerated and light blocked form excessive algae growth its all good. been doing this for 2 years now no issues.

saves nutes, saves time, and labor. win/win

I have changed it every 10-14 days, went whole rounds not changing, and what I have settled on is changing on day 14 to bloom nutes, replacing bloom nutes around day 35, and one last change to the flush.

So you like to play Russian Roulette with 4 bullets in a revolver?

Seems most of you do not realize that plants defecate through their roots.

Depending on how many plants (root mass) and rez volume, at some point, the volume of excrement in the rez turns it toxic, and your crop begins to look sickly. Most mistake this for nute deficiencies. A toxic rez quickly effects the roots, which invites bugs, pythium, root rot...

The amount of excrement is minimal during veg, However, during flower, where the hormones rage, the excrement pH is very high. All of a sudden you have problems controlling rez pH and start adding massive amounts of pH down,
which does not neutralize the excrement.

The solution is D2W= Drain to waste, but who can afford that with 10G+ rez?

HPA solves all these problems. See my journal to learn about it.

Lol, all that for a plug for your journal, huh?

Getting back on topic, I either do a full changeout every two weeks, or my new move is to do half rez changeouts weekly.

I've tried to go a full cycle with no changeout a couple of times and was disappointed with my results each time.

PK that stratagy is very similar to what I'm doing. every week is a waste of nutrients unless your having problems with lockout pH etc. just my opinion of course

I use floranova bloom, flourolicious plus, budswel, kool bloom, silica blast, liquid carboload/floranectar.

I change my res at week five, week 7 for flush and when I flip from veg to flower.
I don't notice any difference in growth. I top off with about twenty gallons a week as well and I use 1 tspn per gallon with all my nutes.

I have a fourty gallon res for a four by four e&f table.

Twelve plants in that table drink almost ten gallons a night...my r/o filter can't keep up. And that's just topping off....I would need to upgrade big time to give my girls a res change every week...eventhough im staggered ..that would be over a hundred gallons a week with all my set ups. That's just water...let alone nutes needed...would be around five hundred bucks a run using one of the cheapest reciepes there is.

My aero does get changed everyweek because its fifteen gallons for twelve plants.

I do a res change every week, in flower these ladies are drinking about a gallon a day so on day 2 I top off and two days later I just do a whole res change.

I dont change my rez at all. I use Jacks Professional Hydroponics and JR Peters Calcnit mixed to EC 1.6ish / 5.8 ph in RO water. Same formula throughout the grow.

Wick passive hydro (PPK)...its very boring.
