Now, when painting the stem of the plant while still on the mum, does this need to happen more than once? Should one paint the stem every couple of days, or just the one time and wait 7-10 days for bumps?
@Nicoli This is a good reason to have some rooting SOMETHING on hand. Just get a small powder, gel, whatever... and only use it on the CJones. At the very least see if if makes a difference. If not, it's just a few bucks... If so, it's a few bucks well spent to ensure healthy gals.
Damn, not trying to sell you on the idea, but that feeling of being unsure if they will make it is heart wrenching. To me seeing them healthy the whole time is worth the extra few.

Usually one painting with cloning gel is all u will need to make this work.
The little root nubs will show up in about 7 days. This allows you to get clones easier and root quicker. Works like a charm.
And the best part is it is still on Mamma the whole time so it gets nutrients the whole time it is developing root nnubs.
This works on all MJ plants, hard to clone or not.
p.s. If you don't have cloning gel, u can make it with KY Jelly and rooting powder

smokefrogg, i doubt it has anything to do with it, i get 100% on every other strain. i still get 100% on casey jones, it just takes FOREVER. as my original post states, its a very unhappy strain when its cloned.
rooting gel is not required to root cannabis cuttings, never has been, never used it, never will. i get 100% thick insane roots in 10 days from every other strain except from casey jones. it's clearly a genetic issue.
Yeah you can do it without the hormones this is very true>>> The reason you use the hormones is you want as many root sites on your stem as possible . It's really just a matter of more is better and in this case that is true. You really don't need the expensive shit either . The Wal-Mart gel is just as effective as anything else it's the hormones in it. Don't contaminate your gel and all should be fine.
If you don't have any gel or powder and you do have a Willow tree this has the exact same hormone you are looking for for rooting.
The idea is to make the plant as strong as you possible can right from the beginning.
Some plants do take longer then 8 to 10 days to root This usually means the cutting is having a hardtime with it and in many cases if you hold on for 14 days lets say and it finally roots you will find that the plant is just a slow grower never finding it's stride. I also don't use anymore cloning gels or powders of any sort.
Anyway, I've found that Blueberry dominant strains are harder to clone than Sativa counterparts.
Not impossible but loss rate is much higher than NL#5 or SK#1 dom plants.
Have you followed the Moon cycle as to when to take clones?

Most of my cuts will have root with in 10 days, if they go past 14 days they get yank, i've been doing this for a while and threw a lot of rooted cut ( but weak ) away, and now i do notice the survival rate for my cuts went up and root fast ...
