1800w Tent x2 w/ Blumats = 3600w Simplicity Grow

Fuck yeah, you're making my indoor plans come together big time. I had started leaning towards a 4x8 tent w/3 600's, and was also interested in the blumats, and I totally dug the entire NF thread as well, so I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the vertical one, and icing on the cake we get to compare it with this one!

Yes, he's using the lucas method I think right?- RO'd water w/6ml/gallon flora micro, and 9ml/gallon flora bloom. Edit, he's also adding bloombastic

Questions-

what do you ph your water to & with what? Oh and what was the problem that caused it to drop?

What brought me here was your post on heating your house, where do you get your air from & what do you do about humidity?

I only read the first post in the 5400w coco thread, will read more later, but you mentioned the coco was temporary in that run- I'm guessing you liked it? Seems like a silly question, but I'm wondering what you like & don't like about it. I have no qualms about setting up a quality hydro system, but like the simplicity & safety of some of the soil grows I've seen (By safety I mean- I won't lose tons of cash from some pump or fitting randomly failing) BUT I also like the simplicity of the lucas formula, and the results of hydro. Any advice for a new indoor guy (I think I've finally learned how to kill it outside, lol) who has been reading a lot?

Thanks all!

Yes - Lucas at Head ratio 6micro/9bloom.
I do not have to pH anything at this spot. 6/9 into RO'd city tap puts me orangish on the pH color w/ the drop test.

Troubled mom's posted earlier in this thread where actually at a different location with well water source (ro'd). Unfortunately the pH behaves differently there and requires some pH normally. I just splash in some blue GH pH UP solution and re-test. Shouldn't have really posted those moms in here as they do not relate entirely to this grow/spot.

I pump hot air from tent to upstairs bedroom. Tents intake is just the surrounding basement air - drawn in passively. Run dehumidifier in basement when needed, but it generally stays low humidity here. Will however run non-stop once flowers develop to prevent bud rot within the tops.

5400w spot was originally ebb&gro switched to hand watered coco. It was simple terms and worked. I was sick of dealing with hydroton and hoses everywhere - mainly hydroton. Coco either handwatered or /blumats is ultra simple and seems to work every time. Where I dont like still having to haul in coco, transplant, and haul out it does work extremely well.. and is extremely forgiving.

What ultimately keeps me in coco is the ability to root some cuts, make-shift veg whenever/where ever makes it simple to keep the bloom room blooming. I can add plant numbers, taken them away, ect..to get the job done. Lack of a proper dedicated hydroponic veg setup has led to delays when taking the hydro route. A hydro system is only as productive as its veg setup...and that is where I've slacked.

I'd prefer a proper hydroponic veg setup perpetually feeding a similar bloom setup over coco, but thats just me. I love coco, but it still involves more work then straight up hydro (that is of course if your eliminating the medium and everything runs properly - no leaks, no root rot, ect). No medium is superior to coco in my opinion...and that prolly the only thing superior to coco.

I'll take coco over some complicated hydro setup with a lot of parts, airstones, noise, heat challenges, ect any day, BUT I think my mediumless stadium inspired by JonJaffer may take those downsides out of hydro - making the coco feel like more work/hassle.

Other tent is slow off. tossed 10 of the dead last rooting cuts in there and they have not been doing well. I think 3-4 are just runts. Others are starting to grow a little bit, but I believe they were given too strong of food along with being over watered right off the bat. Not having got a fan in the tent isnt helping anything either. Just a single vertical six over some runts in a stale environment. Gotta get this fixed up, but wont be in time to start blooming anywhere close to 4 weeks after 1st tent.

Learning curves going on everywhere.... working a normal 9-5 doesnt leave a whole lot of extra time either.

How the girls coming along? I just picked up 3 600's :) SS-1's, they have some older yield master hoods though & no glass was included :(. I found some more though that have the same hoods you have, I think I might pick up some of those as well.

I had a stupid question about the blumat's, could the drip line be split into two? One cone valve but 2 pots being watered off the moisture level in the one?

Thanks all!

Ladies are coming along nicely. I'll try to get some shots tonight to post up tomorrow or early work week.

What you propose about the dripping being split into 2. I imagine it could work provided the plants are uptaking about the same amount of water roughly.

Pot 1 containing the blumat would be the "control" behind the whole thing...thus Pot 2 not really getting its individual specific drip rate. I'd imagine the length of the 3mm dripper tubing would want to be similar otherwise Pot 1 with the blumat would turn off before Pot 2 is AS wet just due to the time it takes for the water to travel the 3mm dripper tubing over to Pot 2. Give it a try and let us all know!

Maybe I'll give it a shot next round with a extra clone. ...may be a useful application to someone...or for some mother plants or something.

looks good, Im having the same medium dilemma as you, I hate transplanting and the mess that comes with it. I would like to see how those sure to grow things work but I have not heard much for positive reviews.

im running 2 4x8 tents with 2000w in each. So Its cool to compare our grows. My plants are about the size of your lemon g's. I have 23 plants in 2 gallon pots of perlite, drip fed with floranova 8ml/g with liquid koolbloom 5ml/g for a boost. I will throw up some pics this week probably.

I love your style, is there any runoff with the Blumat's? I was thinking of doing a very similar setup but with Phillthy's water only soil recipe:

half bail of promix bx
1 bag fox farm ocean forest
1 cup miracle grow bone meal
1 cup miracle grow blood meal
1 cup dolomite lime
1 cup earth worm casings
mix well and only add water.

Is there any reason ya can see that this wouldn't work? Peace, pot and karma. One Love:ying:

Thanks!

The blumats are not open enough to allow any run-off. I pretty much just dial them so I have a relatively heavy pot w/o any run-off.

One Love,

I'm not familiar with soil at all. Never grown in anything more then straight hydro or coco, but AM very interested in a water only SOIL mix. Can you really go start to finish without any nutrient just relying on the soil nutrient?

Would take Blumats to a whole new level of easy. If your source water was good pH out of the tap you could essentially eliminate the reservoir entirely and just run the blumats off of spigot w/ pressure reducer.

I'd be curious to see if water only recipe would result in decreased yield over coco w/ nutes.

- Updates hopefully coming soon. Home internet cable modem took a shit and need to get it replaced.

Bro not sure on yield, guessing its close but overall quality seems to be outstanding with the Phillthy's mix. Check out his thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=161391
He's killing it with the recipe. Especially if your monocropping you could make any adjustments to the mix all though it seems to be good for most strains. The part that really got me is the ability to run several different strains without needing to dial in the nutes to each strain. Organic plants take what they need. This just might be the ultimate combo, especially once you've done a run or two to make any adjustments. As far as rez or no rez, I was thinking about RO to a rez with a float. Add a injector for a water conditioner containing micro's, on a timed pump 2-3 times a day with a pressure reducer. No more adjusting PPM, PH, water level's, etc. Seems like one could leave the grow unattended for week's at a time. Peace, pot and karma. One Love:ying:

Much love to my fellow ICMAGGERS. Hope all is well out there.

Tent 1 - 3 Horizontal 600w Daystar ACs = 1800w
I believe we are around week 7. Reservoir topped up with straight RO w/o nutes to start our flush. I'll let the blumats drip RO for about a week then will handwater a good bit the last few days prior to harvest. Have not microscope checked these yet.

Hard to see some damage in the pics but I did allow reservoir pH to drop low and I think I locked out a bit of MG.. only seen in the left BBxLAV plants. Rust stuff up on the leaves jutting out of the colas. Its mild..I think were OK since we are so close to harvest.

Hopefully we pull this down no mold. This looks bigger then my previous run in this scenario where we came in just shy of 3lbs bone dry.

Tent 2 - finally some pics. Was a slow start - no idea which varieties I tossed in here - just leftovers. 8 Plants.
They are not 100% I think due to being watered with low pH. Just added fans today which may play into it a bit. Aside from exhaust power I had no wind in here at all.

Leaves are a bit twisty and jank and these ladies just are not thriving at one hundred like they ought to be. Got lazy and wasnt checking pH. Previously it would hit right around 5.8-6.0 without any adjustment. Upon testing as things were looking off I found it down in the RED with my pH drops.

Flowering now - maybe week 2 or so. I'm not sure if these were vegged enough as I've never grown like this, but wanted to put into flower when the 1st tent was around 4 weeks so hopefully we'll be able to harvest this one 4 weeks later.. and keep the tents staggered like that for once a month harvests.

Will be on blumats asap. Currently being handwatered right now.
In smartpots - 3 gallons.

How did you take those pictures like that? The bulbs look awesome! From raising my HPS light the other day and getting a eye shot of 600 watts, I could completely understand those goggles with vertical
