60 site EZ cloner

Does EVERYONE have problems with temps? or is it just me?

Previously I had experience with the 120 site, and only had temp issues in the summer, but I need to add ice at least two times a day, just to maintain temps around 70, even sitting on my concrete floor. I can only imagine the headache a 30 site would be.

Some people suggested putting my pump on a timer, but how often should it go off? and for how long?

I thought about trying to buy a smaller pump?

I just recently read maybe keeping my air intake pump outside of the room so it pulls cooler air in? (I would need to buy alot of aquarium tubing, as it would be a far way..so i dont want to do this unless it will make a difference)

Any other ideas? personal fixes? etc.

The room temp is usually about 70-75 for my other plants vegging the the same room

Ive got the same issue... My water temp is 88 degrees and its in a room thats 68... Those pumps generate a lot of heat...Im actually thinking about moving my cloner into a spare bedroom and putting my stand alone AC in with it, with a big fluorescent over it for a little heat to the tops. I have no idea, other than buying a chiller for it.... I love my EZ Cloner, but Im leaning closer to just using rockwool cubes for cloning.... Much easier!! Sorry, no fix, but I feel yer pain

Use a smaller pump than the one that comes with it. I used to have that problem too. I just put a block of ice in it once every4-6 hours or just leaving one of the neoprene collars slightly out of the hole so the hot air can get out that builds up above the water.

I use 350-800 gph pumps in my homemade cloners , even with a low water level I have no heat probs.

Any idea on how many gph pump to use?
I am doing the ice thing now.....not blocks, but frozen milk juggs, since i don't want to mess with the ph ppms....it works, but its pretty annoying.

So pop the collars out, so it int tight to the wall? It still needs to be in enough to be light proof? I thought about just removing a good amount of the collars, and covering the unused holes with panda film.

to fix the problem use the air pump, it cools the water

I use the air pump....acctually an even stonger one than the one it comes with, with a large airstone inside. I have heard the pump should be kept in a cooler room to make the intake air cooler. But for my setup this would require a LONG air hose. If it's worth it though, I'd probably try it.

I used the C.A.P. NFT 1E which cycles 1 minute on 4 minutes off. I didn't read anywhere that this was the right timing cycle or anything I just tried it because I had the same problem and had one lying around from a previous NFT grow. I got roots 100% and didn't see any noticeable difference in the time it took to get roots.
Now i am perpetual and just growing for myself so my daisy cloner is all I need.

You can get a CAP timer which will cost around $80.00

4 off and 1 on stonedar said. I do this as well. In the summer, I had to really stay on top of the ice and keep it cool...and very clean. The cleaner and cooler the better imho. Right now..as the temperature outside has cooled...my shit stays at a very nice 72 degrees...which is a little cool....but nothing I will have to worry about.

I'm there with you bro :)
For the beginning phase leave the water as is. Let it be warm because this helps rooting. The Ice helps so make sure you recycle your soda bottles and clean them thoroughly. Fill them up and keep them in the freezer. I use them in sets of 2 to maintain a constant cool temp.

Now if you don't mind some leg work - Replace the water once a day. I use a python hose that connects to the sink in my bathroom. It uses the water pressure to fill and drain :). It's my best friend. I never carry buckets. The warm water never really hurts my plants and they remain perky. Its the bad shit that grows in warm water that will get you but this is if you just leave it alone over some time. Replacing water daily may be overkill for some but hey I don't take chances. I run the pump 24/7. The chlorine in the tap water also help fight slime too :). They'll only be in there for 10 days max anyway so after that pull them and transplant. They should have roots by then..

I use one of those timers with the tabs that go all the way around the timer clock. I set the timer for 15 minutes ON 15 minutes OFF all the way around. This keeps the water temps in check and works just as good as with the pump on all the time.
