What Killed Prop. 19?

i'ld call it ignorance and apathy.

When less than half of the eligible voters come to the polls, you can't expect to win.

lazy potheads.

actually if 44% of eligible voters turned out that was a higher than normal turnout, i was shocked when i saw that many had turned out.

Prop 19 failed because it was a bad bill.. Plain and simple. It is a bad idea to pass a law that isn't perfect on the hope it'll be amended later...

Show me a perfect law. Even the Ten Commandments are flawed.

Just admit that the problem is that growers and dispensary owners were afraid of a derailment of the gravy train. While LEO DEA and the other usual suspects were afraid of the same issues on the other side of the tracks.

Its not that simple, brother. I understand your passion but you can't discount everyone with an opposing view. Fascist much?

Greed was a huge factor, IMO, but completely unquantifiable. Voter registration and voter turnout are quantifiable. Not saying they are better just quantifiable. As is the fear mongering done by people like Peron and DragonWhore.

I personally believe, that voter turnout/apathy/laziness has to be our first point of attack followed by education. There was a huge amount of disinformation and propaganda coming from within the movement.

Do you really think there are flaws with not killing, stealing, lying, cheating, being good to your neighbors, don't be jealous ?? I don't...

I'm a grower and I don't vote because my personal opinion is that people can pass whatever law they want to pass and I will keep doing me the way I know how to do regardless of what some one says I can or can not do because ultimately they do not judge me in the end my peers do and I'm a good neighbor...

I also do feel like marijuana should be legal only for medical users. In 1996 the citizens of California reidentified marijuana as a medicine. What other medicines are available only by perscription but abused for recreational use will be passed after this? Oxycontin? Xanax? Cialis? ...I can not personally stomach the commercialization of nature's cure all...it was put on the planet for the people to proliferate through peoples hands and to increase the quality of life of all...give thanks for organics!

you probably wouldnt think that way if you lived in one of the other medical states that only allow mj for terminal patients. and not for people who have "anxiety" or "insomnia" or some other ridiculous ailment...

Thank you. At least there are some people with logic and possible political experience or knowledge of past fuck ups in this bitch.

WTF are you talking about. The 10 Commandments are some religous hearsay that have no relevance in modern day law. Now Constitution would have been a better example of something real that needed amending.

And no, for example- legit big commercial grows here under new law can't keep up, provide shitty quality, and force patients to a black market. Not only that by giving the choice of dispensing/access to cities/counties you are going to end limiting access to people and causing larger problems...already happening here in CO.

Its against god's law to be jealous, but not to rape and own slaves?

WTF are you talking about as well? lol.

i'm not understanding ur logic. I am sensing you are angry at the medical movement? how can you say anxiety or not being able to sleep is not a good enough reason? How many meds out there create those things as side effects? and how many of those drugs, do marijuana help with those types of side effects. without having to take a narcotic sleep aid, or a Benzo that is highly addictive, more so that Opiotes?

I just dont understand why all of assuden.

Viagra comes to mind. Why is that a medicine? I would be willing to bet more people would define Viagra as a medicine than Cannabis. And I would be willing to bet that it is the age group that voted 19 down that use that drug more than any other. Just sayin...

yeah i am angry. im not saying that cannabis is not a medicine im just tired of all the people who would rather hide behind the guise of "medical marijuana" then legalize it for recreational use. when clearly that is the reason why there are so many patients in CA...

is cannabis a medicine? yes.

do people use it for medical purposes? sure.

does the HUGE majority of medical marijuana "patients" make up fake symptoms in order to gain access to mj? definatly.

it is one thing when we had no other options, but to vote against 19 on a "i gots mine" platform just makes me sick.

ive seen REAL patients who TRULY need cannabis to help live a more normal life, but they make up a very very small percentage of the medical system.

i always thought that 215 would have made it easier to legalize but now it seems it is doing just the opposite. if people only want to accept marijuana as a medicine then that means it is too dangerous for normal people to use it and that only patients who are prescribe by doctors should get to use it, rather then viewing it as the safe substance it really is and be available to any adult of age.

then recreational users will be cast in negative light just like all other people who use prescription drugs who dont have a prescription.

Prop 19 couldn't be trusted!

yeah your right. imagine all the negative reprecussions of non-215 people being able to consume, share, cultivate, possess and process their own cannabis....

Don't understand your comment on the reason prop 19 failed. If it is because I voted no or if it is because it is already legal for me as a medical patient?
