Ive been using a 4000k MH bulb and when the plants go from T5s to the Mh the new growth is yellow and not a healthy green I get with T5 6000k HO bulbs.

anyone using mh 4000k bulbs seeing this?
I think I need to try out a 6000k or 7200k bulb and see if it helps?
I'm looking at a sunmaster 6000K and a solarmax 7200k.
now the info says this for both bulbs:

T25 bulb with nickel plated mogul base
Operates on M47 1000W Metal Halide ballast
Horizontal ± 45º position

I'm running a digi ballast and this says it operates on a M47
is there a prob using this bulb??

I've been using the Solarmax 7200 for about 6 months now and really like it. Don't know anything about digital ballasts though.

m47 ballast

m47 ballast

I used use m47 ballasts with sylvania lamps .
usualy with 415 v supply.
If on 220/240 v u need an auto transformer xfb 240/415 or 110/415 depending on your voltage.
I dont know if digitals run these 415 v lamps.

no was talking about in the uk

ah i should have made it clearer i used 3 phase 2 live 220 phases m47 is designed to run on 415v but in your case the ballast would have a 220/110 auto transformer in the box .ive used them in a house on 240v with xfb 240/415.A

If you want reliable ignition using a 1k digi I would recommend the hps to mh conversion lamp LM 1000

CFL_Grow

I veg with a 4000k MH bulb (cheapo from lowe's) and the new growth comes out lighter yellow no matter what i did. It would darken out after growing but light green to start.

thats exactly what happens to mine CFL-Grow
it takes 3-4wks for the plants new growth to start to darken, sometime the yellow borders on white its so pale.
my 1st grow I thought It was a def. of some type, on my 2nd now and i ha a
I have a T5 8bulb w/6500K bulbs right next to the 1000w Mh w/4000K bulb and the difference is nite and day, this is why I wan't the solarmax 7200k bulb.

growshopfrank, thanks for the link, I'll check the kelvin rating on those

osram 7.2 k on s52 HPS ballast

osram 7.2 k on s52 HPS ballast

I suspect in fact i damn sure solarmax lamps are made in germany by osram they are identical to the osram HQI-t 1000w/D 7.2 k.
The osram HQI runs on my S52 hps ballast i change 1 of the 25 mfd caps for a 12 mfd.A

auto guerilla

i had a 150w mh with 4000k bulb. used it for couple months but i would recomend the
6000k bulb. mine was going ok but not as fast growing as under 6400k t5's of the same wattage. i think the 4000k puts out too much unusable light to be worth it. it's only a bulb so just get new one of better and known spectrum. good luck
