Brown stuff on roots?

Just wondering if this is normal, brand new to hydro - always done soil... It's a DWC setup and the plant is 1.5-2 weeks old. So far I have only used GH FloraNova Grow and Botanicare AquaShield (plus ph up/down). On a couple spots on the roots its like this light brown stuff, almost looks like residue. I'm worried this could be the start of root rot, but I am also wondering if it's residue from the nutrients? Because I had similar looking buildup on the airstone and tube.

Seedling PPM was 150, running at 300 now
pH is kept at 5.8-6.0
Water temp is usually 70-75

My camera is absolutely horrid, but hopefully someone can give me some input without a photo.

Zero Water, not RO. It's like a brita filter but it drops the ppm to 0.

I don't quite understand how I could have root rot so quickly, the plants not even 2 weeks old. It's in a cold room with almost no heating..never over 70ish, and I've been using aquashield which is supposed to protect the roots from the rot.

Alright, so that happens? I'm using GH FloraNova and it's a really thick consistency and completely brown in color. I noticed some weird residue on the airstone and tube after only one week. Will this residue hurt the roots or plant at all?

do your roots smell like wet mud? that is a sign of root rot. You could very well just be freaking out a little on your first hydro grow though.... these plants are very hardy! If you havent let your rez temps get higher than 80 then you r prolly aight.... the only other thing i could think of is not enough air?

Alright I'm pretty sure it's nutrient residue, I have a ecoplus 2 outlet air pump but I am only using 1 outlet, so 1 airstone in a 3.5gal bucket.

Unless the roots smell it's probably just nutes staining the roots, I'm also using flora nova series nutes & my roots stained.

You r prolly fine but it def wouldnt hurt to use both those outlets and "t" them into one since the one outlet your arent using is just wasting air

What's the temperature of your res? Does it stink? These two are the first things you should look at. Usually a foamy/stinky/slimy (slipper tubing/walls) res indicates some sort of infection/rot.

Anyway, I now run a dead res. Bleach at 1-2ml per 10 gallons added every other day (it dissipates quickly) to the res. Smells faintly like a swimming pool and doesn't hurt the plants. Doesn't let any (nasty or beneficial) microbes grow however.

i hav'nt done any research but i would never put bleech in my res during a grow.if its root rot you will know.
without pics people are guessing .
but seriosly ,bleech threw out a grow?why not add a little hairspray and crushed glass?
that kind of additive almost makes using gh an organic grow

i'm not trying to bust balls but all i can say is "bleech " wtf

I have same problem..hydro_flood tray_brown roots_ there not slimey i questioned it but let it go because the plants dont seem unhappy.

Alright, yeah I know my temps havnt gone past 75, I think the highest I had the water was 23c. So I guess it's from the nutrients. And the plant doesn't seem unhappy either.
