How do I make this black paint duller?

Noobie here:

How do I make this black paint duller? It seems to be a tad reflective and I think it may be a problem. I already have two holes cut out on the box for intake and exhaust and I'm planning on attaching a PVC elbow with a carbon filter on the outside and another elbow on the end of the filter for light trapping. But the intake will be harder since maybe I'll just use a longish pipe and then make another turn with another PVC elbow.

I'm concerned that these maneuvers won't be enough since this paint is shining a bit.

The guy at the hardware store said it was matte and that it was the least reflective. Apparently it wasn't what I expected.

You can go to the store and buy matte clear coat finish and just use that, itll take away the shine of the paint.

or you can just rough it up with some sandpaper. i like how you're prepping but thats a little overboard, dont you think? a light trap on a carbon filter? its carbon its black and solid theres no light gonna get through that. also you said theres a long pipe and an elbow? light wont travel down a long tube and an elbow even if you didnt already paint it black.

O <-- this is the opening of your tube.
light will maybe make it this far unless its shining directly down the tube

this is your tube and the light.

even without the black paint, light wont make it from here(x) to there (y)

let alone up the elbow through a carbon filter and into your growbox.

this hasn't been said yet but the trick with getting any paint to give a flat look, is to do very light coats, most people just spray on paint super heavy/wet, which is fine for initial coats but the last coat you should be thinking that your misting it, the reason is if you can get the paint to partially dry before it hits the surface of your object it will give it a texture feel (similar to how curling rinks are done) which will give it a minuscule pebble like texture which will refract light at different angles.

i can make a heavy gloss clear look flat depending on how its dry times are
