is a PS3 or xbox360 worth it

hi guys n gals, ive been weighing up weather to bother buying a ps3/xbox360 - theyve came down lots in price since a few years ago and theres now loads of good games out for the ps3 which there wasnt when it was first released which is another good reason

Also, I want a PS3 as i think they are slightly better graphics and the console is better build quality than the xbox

what do you think, i used to play ps1 all the time in primary school, had an xbox1 but nothing for years. seeing the graphics on the gameplay youtube clips has reignited a passion

is it something that provides good value, or will i grow out of it quickly (im 24 m)

My PS3 was one of the best purchaces I have made in the last couple years, plus it doubles as a Blue Ray player.Btw i'm 47:)

If you like FPS go for Xbox all day. But if you like RPGs, or sports games go with the PS3.

i would say it depends on what you want to get out of your system, ps3 has a more limited selection of games but it has a blue ray player if you are intrested in watching blue ray movies (a standalone blue ray player can cost almost as much as a ps3) xbox cost less but if you are into online gaming it is better but you have to pay to play online unlike the ps3 that is free

If only play is important then...

Imo Xbox Live is far better than PS3s online.

Xbox Live seems to be more competitive too if you're into that.

im more of a sports and car racing games player anyway, I like halo alot though, thats the biggest disadvantage with the ps3 in my opinion, no halo

yeh shred the limitation of games was something that used to put me off, but was more of a past problem, ps3 has loads of great games now

blu-ray dvd which i forgot about is another big plus point too

hey care giver, whats wrong with the ps3 online? is there way way less ppl or just a bit less

The ps3 does much more then the xbox. Games, blueray, the new motion controllers,Plays your pictures, Plays most digital formats, rent movies, much much more. I just upgraded my HD to 250g. I bought the first units and the HD was way to small at 60g.

Yeah there are definitely more people who play XBL.

And XBL has a marketplace where you can buy tons of movies, mini games like Castle Crashers, and even Xbox(original) and 360 games. Just buy XBL points and all this is possible(or with Credit Card). I' also pretty sure you can use NetFlix on there too.

And Halo 3 was my obsession not too long ago before I sold my 360. I had so much fun on that game. And there's a new Halo out and this is a very good reason to go with the 360.

The Xbox just seems so user friendly to me. I just wish I could afford a new one.

Personally I've owned both. Here are some pro's and con's I've experienced:

I didn't like that you had to pay to get online with the xbox 360 so I switched to a PS3. Now I think it's free to get on the xbox network without paying. So they're equal there.

Both Xbox and PS3 now have Wii like interactive games where you have to move and stuff. The xbox's wii ripoff is called kinect and in my opinion is better then the PS3 version called move. Either way who the hell wants to move around playing video games? Not I.

Both PS3 and Xbox share a lot of the same games. Each console has "console specific" games that you cannot play on the other platform or even a PC sometimes. For example, PS3 has God of War but xbox has Fable and Halo. So just like CARE giver said depends what your style is. Personally I like PS3 just because I'm more of a rpg gamer.

i've looked on some comparisons of same game graphics on a different console, split screen view so you can see them side by side at the same time. even then its hard to tell which console has the better graphics
if its about what you prefer well to be honest i prefer sports games and racing games, gran turismo was a playstation based game

one major factor when i got one was that everyone i knew that owned xboxes, they ALL got the red ring of death at some point. and while some were still under warranty, its a pain in the ass to send you system in and wait until they fix it. maybe the new ones have fixed the problem, hell knowbody could ever tell me what caused it. one friend just got nhl10 the day it came out, brand new. opened the box, and bam, red ring. does anyone know more about this? i've known at least 8 people who have xbox, and its happened to all of them.
i got my ps3 maybe 2 years ago, and it was a great deal. now its just a fantastic deal, they have much bigger harddrives for the same price i paid. i stream my movies and shows from my pc, to the ps3. nice and easy. the blueray is nice also. free online if you like online play. win win win
i saw this new mod chip for the ps3, its usb, and one of the things it does is let you copy the entire game, to the harddrive. that alone is pretty neat, as loading times would decrease, since you dont have to read off the disc anymore. it also means you could just borrow or rent games. i imagine xbox has a similar chip, but it may need soldering, as most do.
i think it mostly comes down to games. if you want games that are on the xbox side only, then thats what you need to get. both systems get most games, but each one has exclusive titles. the major one for me was/is gran turismo 5. i got this system over 2 years ago waiting for this game, still waiting, still getting pushed back. they keep adding stuff to the game though, it looks amazing. i cannot wait much past new years

I got my red ring after 4 years of use. I had no problems sending it in for repair.

It replaced my satellite tv. Netflix and TPB for all tv purposes. Saves me about $65 a month. I don't play any of the games except MW2 because I get sick of almost all video games after I play them once.

Any of you PS3 users play Battlefield:Bad Company 2? If so, maybe we could get together and play sometime.

I just got a PS3 for my bday last week and it's totally awesome! I'd like to play with some other stoners too.
