is pk (pure kush) really that rare of a strain?

Thanks guys for the reply. Yeah I knew she wasn't going to be the best yielder, but that's the only clone i could get alot of at the time I needed them. I'm going to grow them kinda tall. Does anyone know if they stretch alot after I flip them? Here's a shot of the dual 600 watt chamber I want to fill up as much as I can to get a decent yield out of them. Don't mind the single chamber, I'm going to have different clones in there.

Calling a cutting (or a strain) pure kush is ridiculous IMHO

I agree, it's just nonsense !

Wouldn't "pure Kush" be any native cannabis from the Hindu Kush mountains?

Sounds logical indeed.

Here's "my pure kush" (different than plain "pure kush" eheh...)

Irie !

Damn that sucks to hear that it is so bad of a yielder. I remember getting some pure kush from a club in West Hollywood about 5 years ago and I found it amazing! As others have said, the high is fantastic! Even so, I think I may have to plan for a head stash on the next grow! :smokey:

Hi,
Have been reading the reports on the PK being a poor yielder and I must disagree. I have the original strain. I have grown Chemdawg 4 and Super Lemon and White Russian and GDP and Mr. Nice and Kryptonite and a few other lovely ladies so I am not new to this. My friends from who I got the Pure Kush had 66 plants under 6 1000 watt lights in coco with perlite. The last 3 weeks they were fed almost every other day as they dried out quickly.

The bud was dense and aromatic and quite beautiful with a THC of over 16% according to the testing that was later done. I don't mean to brag or anything as this was their grow, but the yield was close to 10 pounds of really gorgeous Pure Kush.....The strain needs at least 9 weeks minimum to achieve maximum yield. At some point in the future I will post photos......I am attempting to cross this lovely lady with an original DJ Short Blueberry to achieve a lavender PK . Will let you know....

i can't believe how many retards at LA dispensarys obviously learned everything they know from the cannabible. i wonder if this is where they learned KUSH is an INDICA. IDIOCRACY

I grew this Pure Kush cut for a couple cycles....great heavy hitting smoke, stretches way too much, sometimes good yields..sometimes not. Flowering period was around 58 days. Crossed it with Blue Moon Rocks...haven't popped the beans yet.

yea my PK was super stretchy and yeiled shit, but its definately good head smoke. i have a second run going with a different method, this time ive been topping and pruning the shit out of them trying to get them less stretchy. i dont know about it being super rare...i was lucky to get it from a fellow cannagrapher who said his friend "borrowed" it from some growers who were trying to hoard it to themselves.

im definately gonna keep the pure around for personal head smoke, but its not gonna be a commercial strain for sure. gonna run the Sour Grapes x Og kush instead they have way better yeild and still smell almost as lemony and kush as the Pure.

also, i dont know why they call it "pure".....isnt it just regular OG before all the crosses that made it get fatter? i have no idea if it has any resemblence to the hindu kushes....but it for sure has chemdawg characteristics...

just found this is the chemdawg thread...saying that the Pure Kush might be the original SFV cut....its described pretty similar...

Also, for anyone who's interested.......This was on another site (I'm sure some of u have read this & THESE ARE NOT MY WORDS):

"Once the 91 thread started blowing up, I spoke with a representative of the Chem Family who, in correlation with the same story I've always heard, re-stated that the origin of OG is 91 Chemdog (also known as Chem #1) back-crossed into itself. Now, I love Chem, but I have worked with every Chem cut and with real Chem seeds (according to the rules outlined by Proposition 215 and Amendment 420), and I have back-crossed the shit out of everything: Chem #1 back into #1, Chem #1 back into The Sister, back into Chem #4, back into Chem D, etc . . . I have also worked with tons of cuts of OGs both growing and producing, and although it might ruffle a few feathers here on WT, I have to say: OG IS NOT CHEM #1 BACK-CROSSED INTO ITSELF OR ANY OF THE OTHER CRAZY STORIES THAT I'VE HEARD ON THIS WEBSITE. I do believe that OG has now been crossed into Chem, which is why it can be such great medicine, but as a breeder, I cannot endorse a story that just can't be true.

What I recommend to any patient who questions the heritage of OG, is to try to find the original SFV OG cut (NOT THE SEEDS . . . THE ACTUAL, LANKY, STINKY, LOW-PRODUCING CUT). It was the first OG I worked with and it taught me the most. It stayed in my small room for a long time as other cuts came and went and when the "hoarded" cuts of Skunk came through, I knew I was close . . . those foul, stinky, I just butchered a pack of skunks with my F150 type of genetics . . . so, I took the SFV cut, Chem #1, a Skunk #1, an "MSS" (also called Skunk VA in some parts), and one of the newer, more popular OG cuts . . . and I took them all through the entire process together. The conclusion: the SFV, Skunk #1, MSS and OG cut all grew and produced similarly, though the SFV and OG produced less. The Chem #1 grew almost exactly like a Sativa phenotype. OG IS NOT CHEM . . . IT IS A PRODUCT OF AN INSANE SKUNK CROSS. The other strain is most likely one of the bomb breeder's cuts of Northern Lights or another bomb breeder's cut, since, really, OG was developed in America, probably in California or Florida, long before 1991 and held onto by a very small group of people (with no name).

This is obviously a very important matter, especially to those patients who need to know what genetics exist in their medicine. One thing I can say, is that, when we have patients, like my mother (and many other cancer survivors), who ask for that, "crazy Skunk from the 60s and 70s," I show them our top-shelf OGs, and they generally say, "That's the stuff." And when they medicate with it, they report that it's even better than "the good old days." I am an OG-Fiend, so I had to know where it came from, but I truly believe that, just like in The Search For Animal Chin, we should all just skate this amazing halfpipe together and agree that now that we have medicated with the OG, Animal Chin's spirit lives within all of us.

Have a wonderful week!

One love,
MEDI"

Peace

This stuff looks a lot like lvpk (las vegas purple kush). I wonder if they are from the same family.

I've read so much conflicting info. on the OG/chem/Pure Kush trip that I assume Pure Kush (which no doubt isn't a pure kush) is from the original OG or an OG cross. The Pure Kush has a similar look to the LVPK,but the two are totally different in smoke and smell. All I know is I have both the Pure Kush and the LVPK...I'm not running them for production but rather saving them for crosses and Bx's. Already have some beans from both crossed to BMR. This should be fun if I ever get around to popping them.

As I said, the opinions regarding this plant are both plentiful and sometimes ridiculous..

The "Pure Kush" that I refer to (a name, no more) is a relative of the Chemdog/OG Kush family. Not much real Kush genetics... At least 60% Sativa, with the expected 3X stretch.. Not the Bubba, Master, U2, LA Confidential, et al (which are spinoffs of the Actual Highland Kush)..

I've seen Pure Kush on some of the menus in the dispensaries near me. Is there any way to know if this is the same Pure Kush some of you have or the one in the cannabible? How do I know it's not just some kush hybrid that they just label Pure Kush?

Also where can I find the real OG Kush or Chemdawg? All of the dispensaries have a million different types of OG kushes.

whats funny is "pure kush", og kush and that whole family are nothing close to actual pure kush from the hindu kush mountain range.

Also lvpk is great for production. it yielded better than many indica strains I have grown, and the quality of the smoke is top notch in my opinion.

I've got mixed results with the LVPK. Decent yields, but I have a few more types that rip your head open a bit better. I'm keeping her...got 3 in flower. The hybrid vigor she exhibits is great.....ideal for breeding. I've since ditched the Pure Kush...but have two crosses from her,one is pretty phenomenal and I've been running that cross for over 4 cycles now with greater results than the Pure Kush.

not sure how true that is...i always thoght that pure kush was really just SFV...
I got my cut of Pure Kush in Arcata.... It does most resemble SFV from the pix of both types that I've seen.
Here's my cross to Hawaiian x Cotton Candy using S1 pollen from the Pure Kush....by far a better yielder than the PK. Still got that narcotic sleepy time space tripper stone too, plus some sweetness in taste and a new twist on the buzz added from the mother Hawaiian x Cotton Candy. This is a keeper..:)
