this is my first grow and its only 16 days in, but I can't help but think that it's moving very slowly. I have it under 3 fluorescent bulbs [2 100W(1600 lumen) and one 150W(2400 lumen)]. I've also got some bagseed plants growing in the same closet. I've been leaving the lights on 24/7 since the seeds have hit the ground and I'm going to start them on 20/4 tonight. the plants are in a soil mixture (miracle grow organic potting mix with perlite and layers of sphagnum moss). I decided on a 100% organic grow but now I'm having problems with bugs... I have all sots of critters runni ng around all up in the soil. I've read that spinosad is organic and it works well for taking care of pests, but does anyone else know of something better?

any thoughts would be appreciated, all the best,
Louis

What kind of bugs? Miracle Grow soil is notorious for fungus gnats. Their eggs are in the soil, hatch out, fly around the plant, lay more eggs and start the cycle over again. Fly paper is best for them. They will stick to it. For others try insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Insecticidal soap. Check nurseries, Lowes, Home Depot. Safer or other brands available. Mix with water and spray. Won't hurt the plants.

If it's fungus gnats just get fly paper.

I'm pretty sure I've got a few different kinds of bugs. I have a bunch of gnats flying around the closet and these tiny white bugs that I think are thrips deep in the soil--they jump whenever I water, but they're still to small for me to tell.
