Prop 19 Results - It has been a long time coming but...

Sadly the Proposition to legalize cannabis as many feared did not pass. However, this proposition has made great headway and I believe we are still on track. Those of you who thought that legalization was actually about to happen are surely upset that it did not pass but this country is built by wealth and this time the wealth was on the other side.

With glaring clarity cannabis has been proven to be a legitimate medicine and an invaluable fiber. Undoubtedly people also are realizing that the United States is sinking into an abysmal debt.

I believe the efforts to end the prohibition of Cannabis are not only on track, they are ahead of schedule. Prop 19 contained some bad legislation and would have been most beneficial to everyday users and large corporations. Since it has not passed we are given more time to determine how best to progress. The amount of visibility this proposition provided for cannabis across the country was priceless and I feel that a much larger portion of the population is becoming educated on the matter. I envision the following.

  • In 3-5 years we will have federal legalization for medicinal use
  • In 3-5 years we also will see the decriminalization of small amounts of cannabis
  • In 5-10 years we will see the legalization of hemp (the non psychoactive male cannabis plant used for fiber)
I see great things in the future for cannabis and those who continue to support its integration into the United States economy.

Thank you everyone for your efforts and do not give up hope. We are still working towards the same goal and we have not seen a loss yet.

I just saw it on local news - very sad. I like your optimism for the future. It's not getting much attention in the media huh? Oh well, next time gadget, next time.

^^Well tell us how you really feel about it lol...everything happens for a reason. Personally I am glad it's over, hope Lee is ready for the hammer to drop. Prop 19 wouldn't of protected him or anyone else from the feds.

What happened imo is way too many people in Cali that smoke or favor legalization didn't vote. It's just that simple. Not to mention, quite a lot of marijuana advocates that don't want legalization- people that make money on MJ- didn't want it legalized. I talked to all my associates and amazing to me how few were going to vote. Sad. It probably makes that jackass Steve Cooley chuckle.

Perhaps the best thing for the movement- and for our country being controlled by a ruthless, foolish, bankrupt Federal Government- is that they kick California's doors in. Maybe people would finally wake up... perhaps even our government will push other states to exercise the rights they deserve to not have the Federal Government controlling their people's lives. We can hope.

I'm highly against prop 19, just leave well enough alone, fuck the government they don't need to get the estimated 1.9 billion in the first year if this would have passed by taxing.. Thanks to all that voted no..

Well if it didn't fly in Cali of a places I can't really see it happening anywhere else.. Kinda depressing but at the same time I guess you guys already have it good enough there why change right

Wow. I fell asleep and woke up at 3 am just to see the results. And it didn't pass? I'm understanding LEO and concerned parents, but people who smoke and grow bud? "I voted no but I'm still smoking". Wait.....whaaat???

How do you think you are going to pass something in 2012 with a no vote now? I bet Colorado doesn't play around with legalizing in 2012. I was really looking forward visiting Cali in the spring. Haha guess I gotta go to Amsterdam.

Lol I love how all these out of staters are getting all butt hurt about something that's not even within their territory. They are acting like we have some obligation to vote in their interests or that we are to blame for their problems. Look I'm sorry we are more progressive than you are but we can't be perfect! I'm glad Lee got screwed but as a Libertarian I'm certainly bummed the feds and republican douches won...especially considering they spent only like a mil when the yes campaign spent like 13+
