Transplanting clones from soil to coco?

hey guys:wave:

I am getting some clones any day now and im pretty sure that they are in soil.I would like to have a go at growing in coco but am unsure of how to go about transplanting them.do i just wash of the soil and plant into the coco or transplant, soil and all.
cheers.

I grow 100% coco and have never tried to stick plants into coco from dirt. I think it prob would be fine as long as you flush them really well to avoid lock-out issues down the line. Just my opinion, but if you have drip clean, and a mostly coco medium im sure you'll be fine.

i was basically told you can go from soil into anything - even hydro. I am planning to do this to 5 of my girls.

As per usual there are caveats.

*must get excess soil out of roots
*must get excess soil out of roots
*see above

so doing so, one would likely wish to use ph'd water - and in addiiton to the usual 'shake - off' i would dip in a container full of said water, dump it, and start over.

I would imagine there would be some moderate to medium root damage, but some ppl when taking care of moms and transplanting normally cut off ~30% of roots and or spread the bitches out depending, so that doesn't 'bother' me too much.

I'm expecting a few days of nothing, maybe even a week of 'unhappy girls' but hope to gain the benifits of coco without starting over... good luck to you!

i've done it more than once-by immersing them in tepid water and gently teasing the soil off-then re-potting in coir with a light nute and a some rhitzotonic. They showed no transplant stress whatsoever-don't stress this one's not a big deal-

I've done it several times. I haven't found it necessary to completely remove the soil, just whatever falls off easily and then sock them into the coco. I've never had a problem, provided the clones are relatively small and aren't root bound.

I just removed what dirt came off easy and put it in coco. Never had a problem.

edit: this goes for seedlings aswell-

IF there is a root ball...I would just pick at it with my hands to stimulate root growth...and then transplant in to coco. I would shake it to get excess soil off of the root ball though.

Should be a very easy transition.
