Now What Did I Do?

I don't see a moderator listed for the Laws and Legislation forum, so I'll ask here.

I posted what I thought was an interesting article about the Russian Drug Czar visiting California and his take on Prop 19, only to have it disappear. Why? What unwritten rule did I violate this time? Is it because the Russian Drug Czar does not pay to advertise here? Is it... Nope, can't think of any other reason.

I'm really trying to abide by the rules, but it gets kind of hard when I don't know what those rules are. I think I'm doing everything by the book only have my thread deleted. I'd like to suggest that when you delete someone's thread, you send them a PM explaining the violation and why the thread was deleted. How else can we learn? Not knowing what's OK and what isn't is starting to make me not want to post anything.

Before freaking out...you should always check your posts. Yours was merged with an existing thread, along with many others. There is a thread asking for no more Prop 19 threads.

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=191886

Your blog link is also against the TOU and is removed.

Here is the TOU:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=280

My post was about the Russian Drug Czar and only tangentially related to Prop 19. And I did look (searched for posts by me), and it did not show up in a search.

So now you are punishing me for questioning you by removing my blog link, which has been in my sig for my first 1100+ posts!!!!!!

This link right here:

You have to be kidding me. I'm guessing you are using "your discretion" because it may be a dangerous off-site link (rule 15). If you don't want me around here any more, just say so. Or ban me for my long history of TOU violations. But please stop playing these petty little games.

lol what? Punishing you? Not quite....just hadn't noticed it before you made this thread...I am not using my discretion at all, I am following TOU. Others have been removed too, you are not being picked on. Games? banning you? Why would I do that???? Stop being paranoid ;)

I do not wish to be in anyones sig tho so please remove it.

bro, she's not picking on you. its her job to do what she does.....

many people have had shit in there signatures, just to have a mod finally notice and have it removed, happened to me.....

its all good brother! take it down a notch, she's not picking on you......

i do agree with having a little pm saying what you did, but im sure that would take a dumb amount of time for the mods.....

sorry tony, but this is amusing to me, sounds like a similar situation i had at the office

warehouse manager comes to me, "dude, the internet is so slow at our warehouse location, please man if there is anything you can do please!"

i check into it, looks like 20 different employees are all streaming pandora.com stations all at once haha, *BLOCK!*

20 minutes later the manager is back in the office, "duuuude! my employees are all freaking out because they're saying you cut off access to their music! please fix it and give them access back!"

haha, you know, i never would've noticed that there were 20 different people's computers all streaming from that site if the manager never came over to complain ;)

After my latest sig was deleted, I discovered this rule (italics are mine):

8. Spamming: The posting of links to other commercial websites, forums, chat rooms or communities, or commercial products are not permitted. Members who have their own website shall not be permitted to place the URL or related information in your profile area or display it in your signature, as doing so is considered advertising. There are appropriate avenues to follow regarding advertising on IC Mag. Any unauthorized advertisements will be deleted as Spam and the member banned.

Is that last part about not including a URL in a sig or profile new? I don't remember seeing it before. If listing your own URL in your own profile is not allowed, why is the following an option under personal details?

If you would like to let other visitors to this site know the URL of your own web site, enter it here. Home Page URL:

It also clearly says:

All information will be viewable by other forum members.

Looks like a classic case of entrapment to me. Trick us into listing our URL for all to see, then tell us it's not allowed under the TOU. Is this crazy, or is it just me?
