You guys know the theory - a few days of 24 hr. darkness right before harvest shocks the plant into producing more resin as a last ditch effort to try and be pollinated. My feelings are that this wouldn't do enough to make it universal or worth it even if it were. 3 more days with light instead of darkness would add more weight and potentially more resin and that's just a fact. If total darkness really did provide some sort of significant increase in resin, or anything for that matter, I feel like we would see a lot of threads and pictures showing this and a lot more people pressing for it. It seems rather suppositional at this point but I am not closed off to the idea and am willing to hear anyone out
What I am wondering is, given the increased availability of gas chromatography and cannabinoid/terpene analysis, have there been any legit studies done to show an increase in cannabinoid or terpene levels with this method?
If not, many props would be given to the ICmag individual who chooses to do an experiment. Obviously you would need a clone and to keep all of the variables as close to the same as possible. Thanks for your guys' time and potential help.
