Ever get gnats in coco?

I'm 99.9 percent sure I have gnats, and I feel the gnatrol should be working. I've never had a "infestation" of them, but too many for my liking.

I added a sticky trap in there also which is helping catch the adults, so hopefully 1 more dose of gnatrol should be good to get things close to extinct.

I've used gnatrol 2 times in 5 days, and they say the adult gnats only live for 5-6 days so I hope this solves my problem.

And, these gnats haven't done shit to my plants...at all, they are by far the healthiest plants i've ever grown, but I don't want them sticking to my buds, or become a huge problem.

Are you sure it's actually aphids? Cuz you said you saw larvae in the soil near the roots right? That sounds more like gnats, aphids are really tiny and stumpy.

If you catch adult fliers it's pretty easy to tell them apart, long skinny butt with a round head = fungus gnat. Make sure you are fighting the right bug.

Fungus gnats can come from the coco itself. Yes even the dry compressed bricks. I've gotten bricks that were infested before, soon as I open and started expanding the coco I saw gnats flying around. So changing brands (and location of purchase) is a good idea too.

Despite what some people will say, they can be an absolute nightmare to actually get rid of. The good thing is they usually won't cause much harm at all, even in fairly high population. The worst is them sticking to the buds usually.

Using bti before fungus gnats are a problem is by far the best solution. It's no where near as effective once you already have them. My last run I had bti, imid, pytherin bombs, hot shot no-pest strips, complete removal of all plants and a bleaching of entire grow room, still didn't get rid of them.

Next grow I cleaned up and dosed my plants with some bti about once a week. Use some molasses and a slightly weaker nutrient solution if you add bti, gives them something to eat and high ppm solutions can irritate or kill the bti so I've heard. Since I've been doing that I never had a gnat in coco again.

I'll see you in hell motherfuckers!!! The aphids are going down fast. I did Bayer Complete and avoided Tree and Shrub because it was more expensive and has a little bit of fert in it. 7.5mL/gal. I wanted to point out two things, first the product says that it is still completely effective if the soil gets drenched from rain 1 hour after application. I'm gonna flush this stuff out at 2 hours. The less of this stuff I'm dealing with the better. I hear about people using this stuff in the mix for 24 hours, not necessary. A 1 hour soak and you're good supposedly.

The second thing was on the ID of the bug. I forgot to mention that if you look very closely at the legs of a root aphid you will see it has a black and white two tone thing going on. The upper part of the leg is black, middle white, and then sometimes the feet go back to black. Hope that helps.

Kill em all!

I have had a prob with fungus gnats. They get out of control fast!

They are always around but not in my pots. Sand works just like perlite & i also plug the drainage holes with grow wool.
