Vertical MADNESS!!!

Sorry for the slow updates... Been really busy!

The drainage pipes are sump pump hose, attached to tee's. Now to attach them you need to heat the hose up a little so it flattens out the
ripples a bit and molds to the tee. You then wrap it with stop leak tape and a hose clamp. The veg area is also aero same as the regular system.(no transplant stress!)

Hope that helps.

LAST UPDATE...

Typical root structure... looked even better not dried and shriveled!

The final results............... 1/2oz short of 4 lbs using 1800w of power!

So the customer was happy, although improvements need to be made. I think i can get one more lb out of this, but over all i am happy with the results.

Hope you enjoyed the show!

That looks great, i got the same results (about 4 lbs) from using 2 1k bare bulbs, and filling the columns with hydroton. So for 1800 watts, it looks excellent. Based on looking at the finishing pics, there is a bit of room for improvement. I think for pure yield, best thing would be 1 strain.

Nice Nice!

I've managed 3 lbs from 1800w in a flat horizontal garden so it looks like the move to vertical would definitely pay off.

Nice setup and good job! I'm still try to count accumulators. lol

EDIT: What are you using for a pump demand switch? A 30/50 well system switch? Do you see hairy root growth at these pressures?

Uncle, very nice grow and an impressive yield to boot.

I know you said "last update" on 10.17, but I'm hoping maybe you'll check in and answer some questions at some point.

Anyhow, my question is how you came to a 9" radius as the best distance for a 600W - does that not seem a little close to you? And do you not feel that getting the plants that close and reducing the diameter that much takes away some of the efficiency inherent in vert setups?

Asking because I just put together a large PVC pentadecagon and the front edge of the wyes are 24" from the four stacked 600s, so I'm thinking the plants will finish ~15" away - you really think that's too far?

Do you have a light meter by any chance - I have a really good one so we could compare readouts if you do.

Thanks,
Bob

Sorry for not being out did not seem like to many people were interested, plus i have been super busy.

Trial and error I how i came to the size.... It all depends on your air flow on the fan below. The thing is light is diminished by the square, meaning light strength fads really quickly the farther away you get. So if one can keep the plant closer they are exposed to more light. Nine inches though i would consider the bare minimum so go a foot if you want to be safer.

After some tweaks he is just trimming now but by the looks of things he might have hit 5lbs.... 5.40 would give him the equivalent of 3 lbs per light if he was running 1000's. (ie 1800 watts x 3 =5400 or my goal of 5.4 lbs.) Oh by the way this is still with a mixed crop, so if he ran all bc big bud i pretty sure he would have it this harvest. One more thing this was the 3rd run with these bulbs so they are due to be replaced. He is a happy man right now but has very sore hands lol

While he had TONS of roots i would not call them hairy.

so..............

A make over is planned after this run... (100psi, better misters, drain to waist, smaller accumulator tanks, less room consumed by the water works room)

5.4 here we come. lol
