lowering PH in soil?

I forgot to add lime to the mix and now see I have a high PH, What is the best way to fix this and keep it around 7 for the flowing time. 8 weeks as they just got turned. so 8 weeks.

Lime INCREASES pH not decreases it. If your pH is above 7, you need acid to lower pH not base.

If your pH is substantially below 6 and you need to raise it, then lime is indeed a decent choice.

Using peat water to lower pH has worked well for me. Gentle and effective :)

Just stuff some un-neutralized peat moss in a pantyhose soak it and wring it out a few times to help wet the peat moss to make sure it is saturated with water. Let it soak in some water like a tea bag for at least 3 days.

I would suggest top dress with dolomite as The Gnome suggested before you adjust or your pH may swing too low causing other problems.

use dolomite lime (not calcitic)... has a pH of 7 ... lowers high soil pH and raises low soil pH. dolomite lime is a pH stabilizer common in many soil mixes

Yeah what he said. It wont raise it from 7, up higher. It will attempt to adjust it to 7. but if you start out higher than 7, you wont make it below. How is your soil higher then 7? What did you use?

sulfer products will acidify the soil, most hydro nutes are acidic as well.

el Dream Reader has it right.

Sulfur will lower your PH. Try some Sulfate of Potash. It is fully organic and will fully dissolve in your water. I use it in my water mix all the time.

Try, in a 5 gal mix of water & nutes, 1 teaspoon SoP per gallon of water. I use half that rate as a K fertilizer mid-bloom.
