carbon can filter question.

This might be a dumb question. But, the store is closed now and I wanna make sure I got this right. I just bought a carbon can filter with a 8" can fan. I was just looking at it and hoping I have the fan on the right way. It doesn't have a label on it. So.. Which way does the fan go? Common sense would tell me that the bottom is the part where you can see the wires and that would sit on top of/inside the filter?? On top would be the part where you can see the fan moving? Here are some pics . Can someone please tell me if I have this right. I think I do. But just wanna make sure. Also, as you can see, I'm not exhausting it. I just plan on recirculating the air. 001.jpg

The only stupid question is one not asked :)

Fans blades (internal, but you can see them) facing up.If you still have any doubts, plug that bitch in :D

Depending on your set-up, you'll want the air blowing towards you, pulling air through the filter to your lights(if you're using for cooling as well)

filter>fan>lights>exhaust

Air-flow all going that way------------>

EDIT:

Ahh, I see said the blind man, just set your filter where you want,plop the filter on top, air-flow towards the ceiling.

I plugged it in as soon as I got home. Looking at the pics, do I have it right? Sorry for being an idiot at the moment. I just bought a bunch of goodies today and was soo exited I had to smoke up to celebrate all the new toys!

Is the air pulling through the filter and out the top?

It looks correct in the second pic.

If you look closely on the power supply, there should be a directional arrow.

The way it is now,(in pics) its sucking the air through the top of the fan.I tested it by blowing some smoke at it. If i flip it, it blows air harder out of the top of fan. Which would obviously tell me it would then suck air through the filter and then exhaust the cleaned air out of the top. It has a sticker with an arrow on it, but, the arrow is pointing horizontal??

take the thing off the filter, get a good grip on the thing and plug it in. you want the side blowing air towards you, and the part sucking air pointed at the filter
if you cut your fingers off, I swear to God I'll find you and slap you

It shouldn't be that difficult to tell which way the air is moving...lol...how high are you? :laughing:

All kidding aside, determine which way it's moving (smoke works :joint:) and make sure it's pulling through the filter and you're set. :yes:

O yeah! It's pulling air through the filter now and exhausting clean air out of the top now. I had to load another bowl to smoke test it again.And I still have 10 fingers! LOL. Common sense just hit me. Geuss you could put the fan either way depending on if your exhausting or recirculating like me. Anyways, I got the can filter 75 kit. 559 true cfm for 60 sq ft. and 1600w flowering room. I'm hoping it's not overkill. I wouldn't think there is such a thing as overkill with the odor issue. Now I'm also wondering how this will/if any affect the amount of co2 they are getting at the current setting I have it at.?
