Rockwool Mothers, transplant to Coco??

I have 6 mother plants. Each is grown in a 4x4 rockwool cube, in a pot filled with Hydroton. I would like to move them to Coco.

Doable?

What I was thinking, was to first aggressively trim them (take a ton of clones off the mothers) down. Wait about a week or so for recovery. Then, trim the rockwool & roots down to a 2x2 square. Then transplant these into a pot of Canna Coco.

Think this will work? Will I run into problems going forward?

Anyone done this before?

Thank You

No problemo I pop 1.5's into coco all the time with no problems. If you were to leave the 4x4 things might get mushy, but probably not.

Should work, be careful when trimming roots though.

Good luck

the older the plants the longer it will take them to get established in the coco. ideally just take clones and place them on coco to begin with after a few weeks you can use them to replace your moms in rw.

but i'd think if you are careful and the plants are healthy and vigorous they should be transplant able to coco. just be careful and don't cut more roots then you have to. you could always place the block or pot of rw on top of a pot of coco, letting the roots grow into the coco at their own pace. this is the most reliable way, but you might not find it practical. this is basically what i do with my clones in the 5cm by 5cm cubes of rw, i place them on top of the coco and the roots grow in them selves.

I never thought that would work but i have considered it,you say its the most reliable way?

Thats Awesome.

yes because the plant roots can take their time getting used to the new medium. not that it's a big change for them in the first place. the ph is pretty similar and all the beneficial microbes in the coco will have those roots sinking in to the coco in no time.

when you cut roots back you are hurting the plant, cannabis is strong and will mostly survive, but after taking a bunch of clones and cutting the roots right back the plant will take quite a while to recover her previous vigor.

It sounds like I might need to start new mothers and just flower out the old ones. I wanted to avoid that, but it seems like the best route.

Thanks for the advice.
