Caught Red-Handed by Land Owner...

LOL I would have been more than willing to share the contents of a bucket with the guy. It did cross my mind to fess up to him and see where that took me. Heck, the dude was of prime smoking age. But that would have been a last resort, imo. He looked like Billy Bob Thorton and was wearing a tee shirt with some military unit designation. On the other hand, I'd still be willing to share with the guy for two years of site access....

Talk about a situation!:) I agree, nice job keeping yer cool. Kudos to the land owner. Whether he was/wasn't packing or had a shotgun in the truck, he didn't resort to IMO, foolish behavior.

Nice to know you'd share, understandably a last-resort conundrum.

Good thread, reminds me of the time I got a ride back to my truck while scoping, it was such an akward ride as I had no cover story for being out in the middle of nowhere, just said I like to walk. Another good one was when a bow hunter decided to come out of the woods & walk/talk down the trail with me and my buddy...... while I was carrying a stinky hefty! Guy never said a word, it was like the military's policy on gays- don't ask don't tell.

Now that you have the guy's card, bring him a nice home-made cherry pie!

I have considered attempting to suss out the land owner's stance on the issue at hand. I'd like nothing more than to gift him something for these two years of site access. Btw, I don't usually sell any of my harvest. I prefer to give it away to friends, family and those in need. (This season might be a little different.)

My wife has a great paying job and I have a hobby that costs less than $2,000/year. We get pleasure from gifting produce that is far and away better than anything folks are apt to find on the market in this non-med state. Heck, I won't even consider releasing a harvest until its dried and cured to a point where I'm proud to be associated with the end product. And that's when I give it away.

So, gifting the land owner would have been no skin off my back. As a matter of fact, it would have been the first time I gave something away that wasn't already manicured, dried and cured. Sure would have saved me time...

Anyway, thanks for all of the responses.

Nice one, I would be worried but if nothing has happened yet, I would just keep the smell down and keep things low for awhile. He never saw it, no one did. He's probably more happy that you're not damaging the property and wouldn't want to scare off a potential buyer for when the new road comes in. Who knows he may be a fan of moonshiners.

Great Story, i love to hear good pot recovery stories....Good thing dude didn't wan't to look in your buckets....My guess is, IF he considered you a threat, he would have taken a lokk intgo your buckets, since he didn't, he thinks your cool, and IMO, you have nothing at all to worry about. Nice man...Congrats on a succesful harvest, wish i could say the same, Fucking eye in the skies.

Way to keep your cool something to be very proud of.

What I didn't hear is what you learned from this incident. I too have been stopped by a land owner and asked very similar questions.
Here is what I learned and i am sure you did too but I think its important to verbalize it.

Your enter and or exit strategy needs to be altered. I wont ever pick a plot again if there isn't a good enter and exit strategy. Parking in a private entrance, driveway, etc is a no no.

I gave the spot up and so should you because it's was crazy to have to park somewhere and carry 3 buckets of bud right out in the open. A car should never be parked where it is out of place never. Bud is never carried out in the open never its too risky and this instance proves that. You can only count on one thing expect the unexpected.

What if the land owner was prick and I have met them. No breaks wether your fishing, hiking just doesn't give a shit and calls the cops to set an example.

I consider the bud secondary the lesson is way more valuable because it will bring more bud and no jail. Awesome story and a great lesson to all guerilla growers because we dont plan to grow just one year.

What did I learn? Good question....

I'll never use that spot again.

The grow had a front door and back. I had permission to park my truck on property very close to the grow. However, I found out that a neighbor living across the gravel road and about a quarter mile away had been spying on me while I showered naked in my friend's front yard after working the plot. (The grow isn't visible, nor could she see me head back into the woods behind my friend's house.) But she called my female friend to tell her that she'd been spying on me while showering naked. So I changed my shower stall to a location that couldn't be viewed by anyone. And when I left the property that day, the woman was waiting for me at the bottom of her drive, lingering over the mail. After that, I didn't feel comfortable using the front door much.

The back door, on the other hand, is accessed by the farmer's driveway in question. With the property for sale and the gate open, I figured I'd have at least one "get off the property for free" card to play if caught. My truck wasn't visible from the road. I parked it where only someone driving through the property would see it.

I didn't count on the land owner keeping a deer sanctuary on his property. The land in question is part of a 1X4 mile tract without a road going through. Deer hunters control a couple of square miles adjacent to the property in question and the land owner doesn't like them. He figured I was out there trying to get a shot at the trophy buck I'd seen hanging around last season, is my guess.

I also didn't count on someone coming in BEHIND me. Every time I went out there, I scoured the property carefully for any signs of activity and I had never seen anyone on that property in two seasons. I now realize that I couldn't relax after seeing no one was about. The guy just came in after me and blocked my way out.

So that spot is compromised, imo. I'll never go back. So I guess I'm real lucky to have received an invite to NoCal for next season....

Great explanation really, Everything fits together and I am sure everyone learned something from this great explanation, I did. I give props you had a well thought out plan with good enter and exit strategy actually a couple. Like all plans no matter how good the unexpected can happen to anyone and you handled it great. Glad you had the maturity to move on sometimes a successful harvest can give a false sense of security.

I remember you mentioned previously you were headed west next year good luck to you I am sure you will do well.

She had been fantasizing over your hard naked body...she lingered at the mail hoping to invite you in...you rebuffed her and she ratted you out.

Moral of the story ..if girl is spying on you nekkid...hit it and run.
