maybe put something sticky around the stems like tanglefoot so they cant climb up? just a warning i did this and got tanglefoot all over my hands and arms all the time while moving/harvesting my plants...
The caterpillars come from eggs laid on leaves by moths that fly onto the plants. The eggs hatch and then the cats eat and shit their way through the flowers, causing buds to mold.
I use azamax sprayed on the outdoor plants periodically throughout the growing season to get rod of this problem. Last year I did nothing, and they really damaged my crop. So far this year, I've found only a couple of cats, post harvest.
