just turned over the soil on the top of my plants and i noticed alot of small speck flies flying out of the soil.i have been using safers end all 2 and grotech neem on the leaves and stems for 3 weeks and about 5 applications,but how do i get rid of the soil infested white flies.i want to flower them soon but i have to get this under control first.i guess i wont buy to promix there again because this is a new grow thats been sprayed and clean with bleach,so it not an enviromental issue.they had to be in the new bails of promix or ?thanks

white flys like the underside of leafs...not soil... i had to fight WF for 2 yrs to get rid of them.

i googled whiteflies and it says they lay their eggs on the underside of the leaves but their larva can also attack the roots and effect nutrient uptake,basically cutting off food and water supplys to the plant.they go through different stages and can live 30 to 90 days.i know i can probably kill them with a flush of h2o2 but im growing all organic with iguana juice,nirvana etc.will continuing to spray as i am totally elliminate them in 30 days?does a layer of worm castings on top of the soil work?does asa or aspirin in water work(scorpion juice and bud factor X),ive heard they work as well.ive set up sticky traps and caught some ,they are transparent(whitish?)and some black one similiar to mosquitos,i assume are gnats.any help would be appreciated.

Jesus buddy. A day and a half and you go off like that. Just happened to see this thread on the main page and thought I would come over and share my experiences with the dreaded white fly. Not a lot a people hang out in the infirmary at least i don't think so. Anyways for anyone who sees this white flies are the worst pest i have encountered. I heard there was a spider mite in california that was resistant to everything. No thanks could not imagine that. but where i am at spider mites are childs play compared to white flies. I have been battling these fucks for a few years now. as far as what this guy is describing i am not sure if they are white flies. mine are white not whitish. The problem i have encountered is that you think you have them under control then 4 or 5 weeks in flower and boom they are everywhere. They really explode when the plant starts getting sticky. I dont know if they can kill a plant before its done flowering but they will shit all over the leaves and stress the plant. If you shake a branch in veg and see even one white looking piece of dust flutter off that means you will have a swarm in late flower. As far as them or there larvae attacking roots i have not encountered and i would not worry about it. but they do like to really populate on the lower leafs of a big plant right before they explode in population. My advice is to be diligent and start a 2 or 3 week battle. Go to the hardware store and get 2 different pesticides that say they control white flies and an insecticidal soap. Neem does not seem to work against these guys. I also tried making my own insecticidal soap but it did not work. Then alternate spraying these things every 3 days. make sure you move the plants out of your lights for at least a half an hour after spraying because i have fried my leafs a few times being lazy. also really soak your plants leafs both the top of the leaf and underneath. It can be a pain if you have a lot of plants but if you dont then you are only slowing them down. Don't be discouraged if you see them acting like normal for the first day after application because it may take a day or two for the pesticides to get them. Keep doing this for a few weeks. Also I would suggest going to hydro or hempy and getting rid of soil.

We got rid of the white flies with the yellow sticky paper(the gardenstore dude said its the only thing that helps), and we sprayed both leafsides with water in which untreated tobacco had been soaked for 24 h. as far as i remember that was enough to almost completely wipe them out.

50/50 iso and water will kill em on contact, works on mites also.
beaware if they layed eggs you'll have to retreat.

no pest strips are very easy to use, doesn't kill eggs though

its funny i actually got a giant yellow sheet of poster board and smeared it with vaseline because my problem was out of control in late flower. hung it from my light. i read about doing this somewhere. what a mess i would not recommend. it killed a lot the board was covered but they just reproduce like crazy in late flower.

volck oil is great stuff to use in veg and early flower.
cheap and easy to get at lowes and it safe to use on edibles.
kills live critters and their eggs,
the iso I put in a spray bottle, its more a spot treatment thing.
the NPS will work, the trick is to concentrate the area
with the gas they emit.
like 4 in a 8x8 room overnite hanging close to the plants or a small closet with one.
gotta be careful you can over concentrate.

first off i would like to apologize for my statement,second i would like to thank everybody for their help much appreciated.third is the reason i only have 34 posts is my previous account had some complications and i had to rejoin,after 800 plus posts under A DIFFERENT NAME AND JUST AS MANY PICS ALL POOF,GONE and believe me i did not talk like the above statement.not once,not even when i had a bad case of rootrot tht swest through my system where i had 2 posts in 5 days by which time i had 1 plant of 12 left so sometimes time is of the essence.flies hatching from the soil can not be a good thing to control so i think i will kill my 4 foot beautys and start fresh with new soil from a different source.also i am a chef ,be careful who spits in whose food,haha,thanks im sorry if i offended anyone.
You should try something at least before ya go rippin shit up.Azamax works fairly well but needs a few treatments and since you say theres shit in your soil use some in your water also as a soil drench.This is bout as much as i can contribute dude.

I have been fighting white flies from week 2-8 now, I have not sprayed anything. Ladybugs are doing jack shit and I disperse them twice a week in a moderate amount evenly around the room. I have some yellow traps that I have hanging around (which get stuck to everything but the white flies... mostly me, I hate it) but what really gets most of them is to physically start smashing them and their eggs and really going through your plants. Just about every time I see an egg on top of the leaf there's a fly and/or eggs underneath so I twist the leaf from the stem and smash smashsmash, there's a good indication of white flies if you have them. I do this every few days and it has kept them in check long enough to get me through to the end to where I can do a mad clean up project after this round. Add more fans, especially near the bottom of your plants, this helps keep them off your leaves. Do work!

one of those foggers has an ingredient called NYLAR in it. this is the ingredient that will kill all whitefly's, period!
