I know of one person who has one, i think she has M.E or something that is related to M.E. Apparently it is really difficult to get a card and she was only able to do it after many tests confirming that she has this condition .Lots of hours even days spent in hospital doing tests and horrible proceedures like spinal taps. Once you have written confirmation tho u can get a card that will make you exempt from laws on possesing or supplying canna .

This is great news.
I wasn't aware they even had a program
This must be a recent change because there was no such thing a while back in the UK:tiphat:

Well it's nothing like in the states that's for sure ,the grief you have to go thru to get a card in the UK begs the question wether it is worth it or not, they will have every little detail about you and your past on record . It could be less hassle just to remain illegal and then plead your case in court if you got caught ,hopefully a sympathetic judge would see the medical evidence and throw the case out anyway which has happened before.

And it's not like you will get prescribed medical marijuana like you can in the US that is something completely different to having a Uk card which just makes you exempt from prosecution on medical grounds .

So its more like the MMAR program here then;)
Thats too bad that they are so brutally strict over there
I know some really nice folks across the pond and to know they get this much hassle is sad
I think I agree that sometimes it is best to keep growing illegally than jump through all the loop holes only to find you are now in the radar system as being a grower.
Good point. Its how I felt when I first got my card but now I feel a bit more comfortable.

no such thing of a uk med card. only thing what is legal is Sativex

a good friend is paraplegic has been for over 10 years he has spazams pain ect ect and he cant even get Sativex.

but there is a way around it .. if this info is true and not bolloxs. it was written by Jeff Ditchfield Founder of Bud Buddies, an organisation that supplied cannabis for medicinal use from 2002 to 2007 and Former proprietor of The Beggars Belief, the first cannabis coffee shop in Wales

You can possess and use legal medicinal cannabis in the UK if you comply with Home Office procedure.

This is allowed as the UK is a signatory to the Schengen Agreement;

Article 75, sub 1 of the Schengen agreement reads: "As regards the movement of travellers to the territories of the Contracting Parties or their movement within these territories, persons may carry the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances that are necessary for their medical treatment provided that, at any check, they produce a certificate issued or authenticated by a competent authority of their State of residence."

The introduction of the certificate according to Article 75 Schengen aims to safeguard the free movement of travellers between and within the Schengen Member States, as national legislation on the availability and control of medical products that are (partly) based on narcotic drugs and/or psychotropic substances may vary between Member States. The presence of an authenticated certificate can avoid unnecessary delays and misunderstandings.

In many countries cannabis is available on prescription and it would be very inconvinient if the UK police arrested ill EU citizens for possession of a prescribed medication.

Of course to allow it for EU citizens and not for people in the UK would be discrimination and therefore illegal. The Home Office have confirmed this

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Bring back up to 90 days supply of prescribed cannabis to the UK without the need for an import licence

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

Amsterdam is the nearest and obvious choice

You will need a prescription from a Dutch GP, make contact via e-mail and confirm that the GP is prepared to assist you. Be prepared to take details of your medical history with you, ask the GP what they require

www.homeoffice.gov.uk/drugs/licensing/personal/

www.cannabisbureau.nl/en/MedicinalCannabis/

When you have filled your prescription at the pharmacy you will need a letter from the Pharmacist detailing;

Your name & address
date of birth
The quantity of cannabis,
The dosage and total amount
What it is prescribed for

You are not required to declare prescribed cannabis at HM Customs

I think I may well go see one of these doctors, if anything it is great mitigation to have should you ever end up in court.

My request with my local PCT about Sativex prescription is still at their panel. I do not have MS and luckily my county will prescribe for MS. But I do have Myotonic Dystrophy. Neuro muscular degenerative disease. My consultant is quite optimistic.

If I fail however, he will be happy to prescribe it to me if they change the PCT prescription system allowing Docs more control on their budgets. I would be able to drastically cut down on the amount of meds I have to take. Be lovely to come off of the Fentanyl patches. Hate them so mcuh, also the pregabalin is pretty horrid.

The best bet would be to contact GW pharma directly, and ask them about who their drug treatments are aimed at and how to gain access to them within the uk. It is in their interests to help you out and will certainly know all of the ins and outs.

Bro I don't understand how that could be true? If there are compassion clubs in London then there are Doctors issuing medical cards. There is also your BBC news that is way ahead of our news at reporting cannabis break throughs .. So I can't see how this could be true in the UK.. It might be hard to find like Canada but it's there.. peace out Headband707:comfort:

Yeah I heard about that but he is good at finding out who is doing what. I'm still surprised that they don't have any clubs there? What will happen if you try to open one up and what do your doctors say when you ask them for cannabis ? NO WAY? ..It's bad enough here in Canada but we have clubs and bad doctors lol.. peace out Headband707:)
