Dark window tinting, invitation for po-po?

SO I just got a new all black SUV. The rear compartment and cargo area have what looks like maybe 35% tint on them already, but Im thinking of having a darker tint applied all over, including the drivers and passenger side.

Question is, will this just be an invitation to be hassled by the cops???

Do it if you want to be pulled over. Really its just a roll of the dice, I had a vehicle with dark Windows on the front pass and driver's Windows and was stopped for the Windows, got a 100.00 ticket. But lately I have been borrowing my dads ride while mine is getting work done and his car has dark tint all around including windshield. He had skin cancer so got an ok for them. But haven't been stopped....yet.

Dark tints = cop magnets

If you just need to have a tint then see if they can do some sort of automated stash box as well... because you will be messed with by popo...

Been stopped in front of my own home for it and all they had to do was run the plate to see that it was Dr. ordered .

Keep it at 35%. With a dark car and dark interior, it looks darker than that anyway.

And yes, it's an invitation to the po but it might take a while for them to get the invite. I had my windows tinted from '04 to about the end of '07 & never had any trouble, city or highway. Then in a month and 1/2 span, got pulled over twice on the way to work by state police. First guy was cool, just a verbal warning. The second guy was a dick, but he did tell me that the back window could be as dark as dark can be, it's the side windows that's the problem. According to him, at least. Gave me a $100 ticket.

Depends on the state but if your in any big city dont do it but if ya plan on NOT riding dirty go for it worse they can do is write a fix it ticket.

You can have them as dark as you like...except the front windshield, and front side windows-- Keep in mind, you have to have 2 side mirrors, in order to even have the rear windows tinted tho--

definitely not an issue man. just make sure you wear your matching doo-rag and have "Cop Killer" blasting if you do get pulled over. And when the officer comes to the window and asks how you're doing tonight, tell him "I'm okay...but my watch is sick." I don't see anything bad that can come of this.

Cant go over 15% here, they will literally pull you over if they think you are over 15%, and CHECK to see if its too dark.

Around my parts its literally like a flashing neon sign saying "PULL ME OVER PLEASE". An they will every chance they get till you remove it.

it depends on the state youre in, check your own vehicle code regulations. AZ, OK and TX I recall allow damn near unlimited tinting, in CA you can't tint front side windows, but I have had them for over tewn years and only been hassled twice. Most times I tell the cop "look, you can ticket me if you want, but I'm not gonna remove $200 worth of tint for a $100 ticket." Pisses em off, but I don't ride dirty so he can't do shit.

The opposite of a po-po magnet is a minivan. Get those little people stickers you see on the back windows and make sure you create a big family. Minivans are invisible

My States really fussy about tint. They will tear it off for you, lol....

The one catch is they can't do anything if it is factory smoked glass. So I bought glass from the factory that fifty percent. I get pulled over occasionally but they can't ticket me....

I guess when you live in an upper-middle class area and drive a German sports sedan it's not as big an issue.

If it looks like it belongs on the car they don't bother you.

I suppose it depends are where you are.

Keep it classy if u are riding "fishbowl" (No-Tint) like i do you or the policemen have nothing to even worry about especially if they can see in your car to begin with... the darker your tints the more curious the police are going to be but then again its a roll of the dice depending on the area you live and what you drive around with in your car....

What will get you busted is the contrast between the window tints. I have a friend who tints his front side windows AND his windshield at 25% tint. The rear is limo tint. He swears that because you can't see the contrast of the windshield to front windows, that cops can't tell their tinted unless they were standing next to the car.

Yeah...but I dont think I can help it..the new ride is just asking for tint all the way around. Ill end up getting it to match the factory tint, which I think is a 20% tint.

Plus I hardly ever ride dirty anymore...Its not worth the potential trouble.
