Forced retirement, hope I can help

I'm fully retired from the business since mid '03, but I have 30+ years growing experience and would like to throw my two cents in from time to time. Met Howard Marks in Aruba in '78 while working on the Karob (yes I'm one of the Florida Gangsters he talked about). Why didn't you include any of the 100% successful runs? Worked indirectly for him until about1983. Just a regular guy hoping to tell some stories and pass on some of my experience. Don't have any photos left after the 2003 raid. Did a lot of breeding starting in the mid 80's and have tasted most everything from 1975 through 2003. Had many different systems and many different strains over the years. I'll do my best not to ramble on. BM

Well... Back around '80 I got a "thai" from a friend. Thick hashy camphor buds, gold colored. When I planted the seeds they grew into pure landrace indica. My friend later told me they brought it back from Afganistan in a surfboard. Around the same time I met Hrwd at his apartment in Manhattan to pick up some money. He rolled up a huge spliff that he said was the end of last years crop from Hawaii. He had a grower producing his headstash there. Seventy five thousand a year. Outdoor sativa possibley Nepalese. Then he broke out another cedar box and said this was the first of this years crop. He rolled another spliff (Hrwd never rolled joints lol) which I took home. My lady and I smoked that thing for days before it was gone. In '96 I got a strain in Jamaica called Alaska grown near Darleston. Only time I got paranoid in 30 years. After smoking a few hits I couldn't remember how to fold the lobster boxes I was working with. Circa early 80's an indica came out of NorCal. Possibly the original Skunk #1. Long thick sticky bright green skunk smelling buds. Story was a grower had several huge greenhouses that produced about a thousand lb a year. He spent the winter in Spain while his partner prepared the clones for spring. He retired after five years. Pure couchlock weed. And we only had atari back then, got real good at space invaders. Then there's champagne bud from Kaui. I had a friend that did helicopter tours through the Islands. He once sent me five different strains in one qp. But the champagne was magic. Thumb sized buds pure sativa, slightly darker green with totally gold resin glands. When I opened the bag it smelled like I had opened a bottle of Dom. It seemed to hit you right in the third eye. I had a purple strain myself that I considered the holy grail. Possibley the mother of many of the purple varieties today. You were high on the first exhale and continued on a three hour uphill rollercoaster. In eight years of smoking it I never built a tolerence. Great medicinal. And the roadkill indica grown about a hundred yards from the Ichetucknee River. Strongest smell ever. Great strong up high for an indica. I had a bail of Colombian with Blondie skeched on the side of it. Huge buds. We would roll the bud between our hands to remove the seeds and then stretch it into a rizzla+. Extremely sweet and fast hitting.
Jonny,
Can't say that I have but if its an older strain we often didn't get the real names for the bud. I've smoked many buds with blue in the name and really enjoy them. For some reason the name reminds me of a local variety called ocean mist. Thanks for stopping in. More later.

A load was brought in to the West Coast around late '84 some in cans and some on sticks, about 30,000 lbs. I'll always remember that rich chocolate taste with a smokey undertone. In '85 ten metric tons of a really gold cure came in through the same channels. Exactly 5 kilos per package, six packages per duffel bag and 333 1/3 duffel bags. The plastic wrapper said A+1 in military red on them. That weed was grown in Vietnam. Smoked ten rizzla+ a day for seventy days. Love that old school thai taste.

I designed a four sided stadium system that I modified from an article in HT years back. From 1000w she puts out 1 lb+ every two weeks. Problem is the high plant count. I'll start a thread under indoor- hydro soon.
