Rubber Tree. Ficus elastica

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/propa/msg1213154214711.html

This has a discussion on the same topic. has a couple of solutions; some say they've had success with cuttings, (clones) others say they use 'air layering'.

You take care of them like you would with cannabis clones, but, being a tree, a different growing media would be needed, and you'd have to mist it less.... (i think anyhow)

Research some information on the care of tree cuttings for more specific information....

the plant i have,has only 1 branch--[many leaves].......
i have looked on a garden site that a gal says she takes cuttings at about 50 % success ............

so with only 1 growing tip--- i will look into air layering...

thanx for the reply:laughing:

there is only 1 trunk--growing straight upwards...

if i take this for cutting,
will more branches come out of trunk?????:tiphat:

will it kill tree?????

These plants can grow ten or more feet high indoors, so pruning is advisable to keep it in an attractive form and acceptable size.

Propagation of Ficus elastica is usually done by cuttings or air layering. It is common for people to propagate new Rubber Trees from the leftover scraps after a pruning session.

No it will not kill the tree. Leave it some leaves, so it can live/breathe/grow, and it will branch.
